If you ask my Boss he will say as little as possible  , but he would be lying.

I am a local truck driver, but I drive all over the Tn, Ky, and Al. The good thing is I am home every night.

I made "music business" purposely vague. I was a musician for a variety of artists in and out of the studio for some 25 years. Then I road managed and ran the music publishing for a good friend and artist (please don't send me any songs, har, har).

I still road manage when he goes on the road and currently I'm also animating music videos for him.

Oh, and I wrote quite a few songs long ago with my fair share of cuts (none of which would build me a house).

I've been particularly blessed in this business for a kid who moved here from Warr Acres, Oklahoma over 30 years ago.

Now you see why I just put down music business.

I liked the drummer joke. You can insert drummer, bass player, or banjo player with most any of those jokes. I'd tell you my favorite banjo player joke but it would take too long.::D

I haven't, but when I hack, it sounds like Hale... :(

Haskel (Hack) Hale, was (dead now) a guitar maker. Not well know except in the music industry, but he made guitars for a lot of top country stars. Also known for refusing to make guitars for people like Willie Nelson and Jerry Reed because they wouldn't take care of their instruments. After his death, the Smithsonian had an exhibit of his guitars and one is in their permanent collection.

He made a guitar for my wife many years ago after being introduced by a mutual friend. He insisted on having her sing so he could match the guitar to her voice. At the time she was working for a bank and got a call that her guitar was ready. She couldn't pick it up that night, but did the next. Mr. Hale said he was sorry she couldn't come the night before. Chester had played her guitar when he was over that night. Chester? Chester Atkins.

Wife still has the guitar, but severe arthritis makes it impossible for her to play now. I have a friend who keeps trying to buy it from her, but he's only offering $1200.

My job title is Toolmaker/EDM Specialist. I have been in the Machining trades for 36 yeas; minus a few years I took off to be a cop.

I am a Tool and Die Maker and have been working in EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) for the last 18 years. I’m mainly building tooling for the stamping industry right now.

The company I work for now has cut the hours of some employees. I have managed to stay busy so far, but I need to find something new. So… if you know anyone that needs a wire EDM guy; let me know. :(

... ever heard of Hack Hale?

If that was the Hack Hale I'm thinking of he was a cousin of Roy Acuff and from a musical family. An old friend had one of his instruments and used to tell me that the maker was from up around my "neck of the woods". I got to play it once and it was sweet. Since John and his wife Marie have both died I believe that his boy, Jamie has it now.

BTW, "Chester" produced John's first album

Marswolf, sorry to say I never heard of Mr. Hale. Sounds like someone I would have enjoyed meeting.

I did know Chet and I miss him greatly. I have a J-45 he played and signed for me.

For awhile I worked artist relations for Gibson and I became familier with some of the luthiers in town. I'm the guy Bill Monroe called to pick up his mandolin when it got trashed with a fire poker. It was in two black garbage sacks, smashed to bits.

And I can understand Hale not wanting to make a guitar for Willie. Willie's been given free guitars by every maker in the country and still prefers to play that old beat up gut string with the hole in it.
