Cleaning suppressors

Recommended Posts

Finally got to shoot mine , only 25 rounds of 5.56 and 50 .22 LR , it was actually pretty dirty. Had to smoke a turkey that day so it was a quick shoot and get started smoking. I did notice the last 5 5.56's left in the mag were pretty dirty , does using a suppressor cause that ? Edited by Fourtyfive

Yeah, there is a lot more crud being blown back into the receiver when shooting suppressed and that crud can settle anywhere like inside the magazine.

If you think it will be a problem then install an adjustable gas block. They even make 3 way blocks. Once the gas is set you will notice the gun runs a lot cleaner, there is less felt recoil and the empties don't get slung into another county.

BTW, what can do you have?

Huntertown Arms Kestrel 5.56 , yes the rounds in the top of the mag were getting black in color. It didn't sound so quiet to me unless I was shooting the sub .22LR. The bolt was really not that dirty , it cleaned up well but it is NB coated.
