This is my first Springfield Armory handgun and first .45 ACP a XDm 3.8.

I was thinking about the XDs and finally found a LGS that had both, XDs and XDm 3.8. Benton's.
I was able to handle both and dry fire each. I thought the trigger much smoother on the 3.8.

Since I had no illusions what so ever of ever pocket carrying either of these I will likely be carrying IWB, OWB or in a carry bag. Weight and thickness isn't a big factor.

I liked the light pipe on the S, but that wasn't enough reason to select it. I can always change the sights on the 3.8 which aren't anything special.

I did like the capacity of the 3.8. 9+1 or with the extended magazine, 13+1 versus 5 or 6 plus 1.

The Springfield case and accessory kit is nice, but if I could deduct $60 for it I would.

One of these days I will get to the range.

Here a few comparison shots with a M&P 40c.

Fit and finish is very good and commesurate with a mid range price polymer such as a M&P or Walther P series.
