Robert, I can't fight with you guys for the next four years. Obama didn't win a great victory last night, but he won because even with the bad leadership and poor economy people are tired of the scare tactics. There are actually some adults out there that want real straight talk about the big issues.

The voters know that things are bad under Obama, but crazy talk, scare tactics and clicking your heels are not a solution. So,what do you do? As I mentioned in another thread, the demographics of the country are going to continue to change. If the GOP remains the party of the angry old white man it is DOOMED.

Umm, scare & smear tactics are what got Obama re-elected. He had no record to run on, so it appears that you are wrong.

That's why Mitt should have grilled him on the economy. Mitt had to take the belt. Name calling doesn't work for the challenger. Mitt rarely made Obama defend his record. Calling Obama a commie and socialist meant nothing to the voters. The voters want to know what are you going to do differently.

Bottom line is not to trust any of the politicians.

So... it's over.
Unless God changes things (He can), I don't see how we ever undo 8 years of Obama. Our children will not have the same America we did.

A whole lot of those votes were strictly over social issues. More than enough to swing the election.

I’m not trying to put words in your mouth so if I’m misunderstanding you please correct me but it sounds as if you are suggesting that I and others need to ignore our moral convictions about certain issues just so we can get a balanced budget?

That may work but I want my country to be a lot more than just fiscally stable.

It matters to me where my country stands morally as well as fiscally and I’m not going to turn my back on one just in the hope that I’ll have the other.

I'm always wrong, but so were Mitt's tactics.
Yeah, I didn't like Mitt's approach either. I have yet to meet an aggressive Morman, and he turned out to be just as bad as McCain in 2008. Taking the high road is one thing, but appearing too weak is bad too.
I think you just identified yourself as part of the problem with the Republican party...I'm getting the idea that it's okay to cling to your guns but not your religion (or at least that we need to leave our religion out of our political philosophy). ;)

I'll take fiscal stability. Wait, no I won't. The party didn't have to change their beliefs or positions. All they had to do was STFU. Instead, the crowd picked another girl.

It seems the GOP has started taking pages from the liberal playbook of old. Someone should tell them that you don't have to swing at every pitch.

I'm pretty sure a vast majority of the American people understand the state of affairs in our country are looking grim. Romney did a poor job of convincing the people that his type of change is what would it would take to get us back on track. As many of us know all too well, any ol' kind of change - simply for the sake of change - isn't always what it's cracked up to be.

Until we are willing to focus on the truly important issues, our country as a whole will continue in this downward spiral. Until republicans realize issues like gay marriage and abortion are not worth losing elections over, I'm afraid we are in for much of the same. I think a vast majority would be willing to jump on the fiscal-conservatism bandwagon, but the social-conservatism bandwagon is a whole other story. Those days are over.

What really irritates me about the whole process it that the news makes certain state feel like they don't matter. Who cares who won TN? It's who wins OH & FL the makes a difference. And while that's unfortunately true, it's kind of disheartening.
There are 2 states, I don't remember which ones, that break there electoral votes up. That seems like a better way to me. Why does a candidate have to get a whole state, when he actually only got a part?
Oh well, it's all over & done with now.
