Yep, that does seem to be at least a technical avenue for fraud.

In Knox County, our machines do indeed require a (I assume unique) 4 digit number for each voter. It's generated on another machine just before you hit the voting booth.

Just got back to work from voting the first time around. Something that I was surprised was how the electronic machines work. I think I understand that different precincts use different machines, but in mine the "administrator" swiped a card on the machine to "activate it, and then you just vote. I assumed you would have to enter some unique ID that could only be used once into the machine, and then vote. In the current setup (assuming that their was a band of corrupt administration at the location), could they not allow the same person to go through line multiple times and continue to swipe the card authorizing them to vote?

Then again I suppose they take your manila card and theoretically make sure the total number of votes equals the total number of cards? Of course it is a flawed system, but it just makes me grind my teeth thinking about how flawed it actually is.

This is why you have volunteer pollsters who hail from both sides of the political spectrum. They watch one another. The only way we could ever have 100% accountability would be to give up the anonymous vote. Are you ready to do that?

There was a woman in Pittburgh, this morning who showed up at the polls and tried to vote, but was turned down
and the official said she had already voted. It hit the radio and TV pretty fast. Someone was up to no good in their
town. I haven't heard any more on it, yet.

Although as a whole I don't think it would be a good idea because it could cause the potential for huge voter intimidation (especially in "hot" areas), I am not for one ashamed of whom I voted for. With technology it could be very easy to greater ensure that no voter fraud ever takes place, but the problem with computer systems is they are only as strong as the weakest programmer.

I suppose the best way to do it would be to have everyone that wants to vote for one candidate stand in a line starting on one side of the country and everyone else that wishes to vote for the other candidate to start a line on the other side of the country. Whichever line is longer via satellite photos will be declared the winner. Free popcorn on my side! Edited by CZ9MM

I've wished I could show up on election day and see if I could vote after having done it early, just to spot check the system.

As I understand it, the fact that I could be charged with a felony sort of prevents that, though.

She hadn't voted. That was what was funny, or sad. She called in to Quinn and Rose in Pittsburgh and Rose got
on the phone to a TV reporter. A stink was supposedly made of it. I was listening on the way to vote this morning
and haven't heard any more. She was our age, Mac. A little angry, too.

Yahoo! is reporting ballot machines automatically selecting Romney, even have a video of it. True or not who knows but they're hinting at the idea of Romney owning the machine company thereby writing in some code that would only choose him.

If it's anything like this, it's probably just a glitchy machine. Unfortunately we've become so polarized now that anything odd is automatically seen as fraud. And it's both sides doing this. "Ohmagawd! They're gonna steal the election!!!!! Our guys would never do that, but THEY WOULD!!!" *sigh*

George Soros owns one of the balloting companies that manages about a third of the states' election systems.
I have my doubts about Romney having anything to do with the likes of that story Yahoo made up.

I don't think it matters who "wins", the other party will call foul for the next four years. I don't think we will even know who is the next president for a couple of days or even a week.
I talked to a friend in Michigan that said his polling place was currently shut down because there we people vandalizing and intimidating people that had Romney stickers on their cars. I did contact a family member in that same district and they said there was a warning put out about an hour after the polls opened, saying to take any political stickers off your car for safety reasons. Maybe the Obama supporters are scared that Romney might have a chance in what is normally a Blue State. Michigan has been Blue for 20 years so it would take a pretty major shift to change that.
Do they not shoot people in Michigan???

I mean, I see it going very differently down here if people were threatening people at the polls. Laws being what they are and all, I'm more than willing to use the proper amount of force to exercise my right to vote if the authorities aren't up for it.

Not on the Sowthwest part of the state. Totally different situation in the rest of the state.
Got a call shortly after my post saying that the Police came and dispersed the crowd and the polls were back open. No arrests. They did keep some LEOs around for a while. He was in line for 45 mins before the Police arriving and was there for an hour after they reopened the polls and the LEOs were still there.

Not fraud But I just went and voted and they never even asked for a ID, card or anything.
Just filled out the paper, they looked me up on their books and then I voted and walked out.

At least my place was sending people home for an ID.
