Has anyone taken the PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) exam recently (i.e. since August 2011 when they updated the exam)?

What study guide & materials did you use other than the PMBOK book?

Oh man you are kidding me!!! I just took all of my PMP books to McKay's in Nashville yesterday afternoon, barely got anything for them, would've much rather given them to someone.

Never did take the actual PMP, but our final replicated what the actual exam was supposed to be like and the PMBOK was good for technical knowledge, but the other one we had was better at explaining the methods in an easier to understand format. No idea what the book was, but will send an email to one of my classmates and see if they have the name/isbn of it.

Thanks!

Maybe you are talking about the Rita Mulcahy books.

I took (and flunked by ~2 pts) the exam a few years ago. Just now getting restarted. I need to replace my books, etc. as they were a bit dated, and worse, unavoidably left behind in my old office.

Hoping to have better time with it in a few months. Edited by R_Bert

R_bert, I have my PMP and it's a important credential. I took the test a long time and can't offer you any specific suggestions. However, I would check-out the PMI website (www.pmi.org) specific to possible study guides.

It's not an exam prep book, but it was awesome at explaining everything.

Well I don't have a clue what that is, but way to go on what appears to be a long hard process. Congratulations.

Thank you

Congrats! Wish I had seen your thread earlier. I have been a featured speaker at many international PM conferences for many years, and one of my most demanded presentations is how to get PMP certified in just 2-3 weeks. I created a unique approach with several materials to make it easier and have been sharing it with coworkers, friends, and companies all over the world totally free ever since. For anyone who has a similar need in the future, just PM me and I'll hook you up free as well, no strings attached, just doing it as a favor to fellow TGO members. Edited by wileecoyote
