Pistol buffer has a QD sling attachment in the end. Works good for 2 point sling. I am going to put a sling attachment end plate to use a single point sling.

You might be able to run a standard gas block if you are putting the port at the pistol location, which I think you are. You might be able to run both supers and subsonics without the need for an adjustable block. I would start by making sure supers will run then see if some subsonics will run.

If you want I can give you some of my 240 grain cast to load. They use the same exact load data as a 220 grain SMK. If you want you can come out and we can hopefully find a subsonic load that works. I have about 5 different kinds of powder that work with mine. Everythign from super fast to super slow burning.

The ATF needs to hurry up their responses to my questions. I am going to SBR a rifle and build a suppressor wither under a trust or under my name. I just need to see if a trust will work for what I want to do.

Thanks for mentioning the gas block G. I was leaning that way. I can get a gas block for 20 bucks and won't have a need for subsonic ammo for a while.

Once I get the upper assembled and shoot some supers, I'll come by and see if we can get some subs to run. Edited by Lumber_Jack

I am thinking the same thing in regards to the gas block. Due to cost, I figure I may as well just get a low profile and run it as is, and if I need to get an adjustable down the road when I get around to suppressing then so be it. But that would be 2 tax stamps later, so it will be a while before I cross that road.

yeah, it wont be hard to change, and you might get lucky and it run just fine.

Yep. Worst case is that I need an adjustable, and I will end up with a spare low profile block for the next build.

so all remaining parts have been ordered.

Total with shipping costs where applicable is - $1002.50

That includes the 2 FDE mags, added Trigger guard, and Ergo Grip. No BCG, but I do have an FDE Charging handle. I could have saved some money by cutting some of these items but I like what I got. I received the flash hider free as a gift, but I included that in the price for comparison sake. plus I ended up just ordering an adjustable gas block to save time and hassle having to change later if I need one. I got the Seekins Precision with set screw to prevent having to use Loctite. I figured, Id easily blow the extra $25 bucks it cost on something else and wouldnt miss it once the order was placed.

well Damnit

So I ordered a 12" rail to fit over my 10.5 barrel and KX3, and then would eventually get a suppressor. well I got the MI gen 2 and while I had measured for the gas block clearance, much to my dismay, the KX3 will not fit inside the rail. This is unfortunate because I really like the rail, and if the KX3 won't fit, there is no way a suppressor is going to fit. So it looks like the Gen 2 is going back and I'll swap it for the Gen 1, or the Troy Alpha. looks like the assembly will be delayed another week :(

I had a MI gen1 freefloat on my last AR and it had tons of clearance on the inside, so you shouldn't have any trouble if you go that route.

Yeah I ordered one yesterday. The Gen 2 had 1.5" outside diameter, I thought that was the inside diameter. The KX3 is 1.38 outside, so it was close but no way to make it fit. The Gen 1 will be plenty of room. There was no way a suppressor would fit under that gen 2. I could have gotten the shorter gen 2 but midway didn't have them in FDE so I just ordered the gen 1. It's actually gonna save me $50 over the other.

Look at the Nordic tube. they are just as good and about 1/3 the cost. I realy like mine. You can get a rail to go on top as well or on the bottom for that matter. There is also PLENY of clearance for whatever you want to put on your barrel.

I was in a rush earlier and didn't have time to add some text.

The upper assembly went pretty smoothly. The barrel wouldn't go in the upper, so I put the barrel in the freezer for a couple hours and boiled some water and soaked the upper. Applied a little moly bearing grease to the barrel extension and it slid together nicely. Still a snug fit, but that's good.

The only hang up I had was getting the gas tube roll pin started in the gas block. I nearly had an aneurism getting that thing in there. But alas with the gad block in a vise and a little finagling I got the pin all the way in.

The only additions I want to add right now are a Magpul ASAP front sling adapter, and maybe an AFG, but not sure yet. And probably some backup irons.

A couple more pics with some better light.

Next post will be of function an maybe a little accuracy check.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't an AFG would turn your pistol into an illegal SBR?

No, the ATF has classified the AFG as a hand stop and is not illegal. Also if you AR measures 26" from end to end without flash hider it's consider a "firearm" not a "pistol" and you can use a vertical grip. There are corresponding ATF letters to confirm I'm just to lazy to look them up
Posted
Can you measure the ID of the free float tube?

And if you want pick up some 220 SMK's and come on out. I will supply the rest of the components to make sure it is running right. We can also shoot across the chronograph to get velocities. That way you can figure out drop tables and such.

Measure the OAL without the KX3 and if it is over 26" then you can legally add a vertical foregrip, if that is something you like.
