Seal Team Six, National Geographic Movie, Are you Going to Watch

Sunday evening (11/4/2012), the premiere of the National Geographic produced Seal Team Six, The Raid on Osama Bin Laden, will debut @ 8pm (EST) on the National Geographic cable channel. I understand this is very slanted in Obama's favor, and is meant to help O before the election. I will likely watch, but only after the election. Since my satellite box is plugged into the phone jack, I do not want my household apart of any tv ratings (at least before the election). Anyway, I have already read the book No Easy Day about the account, just wandering what the liberal TV version will be. I understand there is no connection whatsoever between this made for TV movie and the No Easy Day book by Mark Owen.

Like you I will probably watch it at a later date if they air it again. I too have also read No Easy Day and doubt the Liberal spin on the show will match up to the book.

I will not be watching it tonight - doing it because I think NatGeo needs to stay out of the political arena.

The timing couldn't be better for O. Though all he really did is 1. Tell the CIA, military, etc...to find the man & 2. Give the go ahead to get him. Seems to me that ANYONE in O's position would have done the same thing so why does he get the credit.

I doubt I'll waste the time to watch it.

Of course I’m going to watch it; those guys are heroes. I’ve had it set on the DVR of a few days now.

If it’s a plug for Obama then I’ll be back to gripe and moan with everyone else. But I need to make that determination myself. There isn’t anything they could on TV that is going to change how I vote Tuesday.

Come on guys…It’s a show about Seal Team Six…. Who would want to miss that?

NatGeo… Politics?? No way...This is history.

I'll watch it too at a later date, but I'm not supporting it because it is being strategically used as a political tool by showing it tonight. Personal opinion, but our house will not be contributing to the ratings that will be blasted out tomorrow on the news networks.

Hopefully the ratings/numbers is just piss-poor so NatGeo considers not making any more political maneuvers to gain a few extra viewers.

How’s that work? I don’t watch any live TV; I DVR everything I watch. Millions of people are going to either DVR or watch this. Does everyone that DVR’s it count as a hit? If so, how could this not be a smash hit?

Not sure if the DVR is considered a view or not, but as you suspect I'm sure this thing will have millions and millions of viewers, I'm just not going to be one of them. Will probably just catch it on-demand during the week some time

I have it set up on my DVR ... I plan to watch football all day, but it will try and watch it late this evening :)

I guess ratings may be something. I'm not interested, anyway.

I for one do not want to add to ratings whatsoever that I do not belive in. CNN, MSNBC, MTV, etc. are blocked in my favorites, so I do not ever turn to those channels. I am dead serious! I do not DVR, and I have no interest whatsoever to watch this episode before the election, only after the election, just as a point in principal. National Geographic will it aire it later, watch and see.

Maybe I’m slow, but I’m lost on the Obama/election connection or how the National Geographic Channel is playing politics. This was a terrorist we had been trying to capture or kill for 10 years. The CIA and the Military (I assume) located him and sent Seal Team Six to kill him. I’m curious how it went down and I highly respect the men that did it.

Trust me… if Obama pops his head in during the program and says “I did this by myself, vote for me on Tuesday.” I’ll know he is lying.

I am a die hard Fox News Channel follower, they do not speak for me, but its rare for their opinion and my opinion to be a mismatch. So here is bascially my reasons for not watching, again I agree with Fox:

The movie is by Wienstein which should be enough by itself. The spec ops people are against this because it takes classified information and couples it with the pro-current administration theme behind it. Operation Security is so upset over it, that they have bought air time for commercials during the movie to voice the truth. Here's another little tidbit from the situation:
[background=transparent]But it seems some political aspects of the movie were too much for the National Geographic Channel, which had a scene depicting GOP nominee Mitt Romney appearing to oppose the raid removed from the final cut, the Times reports.[/background]
[background=transparent]“We were trying to use news footage that gave some context as to who was in favor and who was against (the raid),” Stockwell explained, adding that the axed footage of Romney was from a 2007 primary, four years before the raid took place.[/background]
again I ask what difference does it make about some TV ratings.

Does you watching or me not watching add to the vote total?

Don't watch certain channels? LMAO. yeah last time I looked watching MTV added two voted to Obamas TN vote total.

Are you freaking kidding me?

Oh and as much as I might want too, I won't watch this before Tuesday, but afterwards it will be OK.

You all are killing me

Those of us who are not watching it are doing so because of who funded the movie, its purpose, and the timing of it. We are not supporting it because they keep track of these things, and if it is a hit, then expect to see plenty more of these political ventures. The movie itself is politically motivated, Wienstien's people said so from the beginning, then when it was announced that it would be on TV instead of theaters, those statements were retracted. & this movie isn't going to make people run out to the polls and pull the lever for someone they were not planning on doing it for last week.

Am not sure what is hard to understand about the profit metrics of a TV channel. Edited by Sam1

not sure why I should care about profit metrics of a tv channel.

At any rate it was not much of a movie. Glad I dvr'd it and was ablel to fast forward through the abundance of commercials.

I didn't expect it to be any count, anyway, since the hype about the producer/director shaping the show,
possibly politically. Any of that in it? I heard Natgeo edited some things out. Edited by 6.8 AR

Because you're knocking on us for saying we weren't watching it last night, and by not watching it, we were affecting the only aspect that matters to the networks.

We don't agree with the intent, people and timing of the movie so why would we watch it at a specific time on a network that will show their exploitative tactics worked? They track viewers on tv, that's how they know what works and what doesn't. Watching the show (helping them get better stats) only encourages the same type of action again
