...in getting an FFL? What does it cost? How long is the process?

Thanks! I've been reading that but was hoping to get some inside info on what might trip me up or what little surprises may pop up thru the process.

In '94, the site inspection and firearm security was the biggest issues. The bound book is a biggy too.

There's a guy selling information kits allegedly garaunteed go get you your FFL in any zip code in the country at FFL123.com
Seems like it involves a decent amount of paperwork, maintaining a business with set business hours among other things.

I think the requirements are slightly different depending on what your focusing on doing like gun smithing, home FFL for di'int transfers etc.

FFL123.com is very informative on the requirements and process for obtaining a FFL.

There are many threads here about this. Bottom line is that many of us would have an FFL but city/county codes won’t allow it. If your city and county will allow you to have a gun business in your home; it’s pretty cheap (use to be $200) and easy. But the BATF will check that. Edited November 4, 2012 by DaveTN

This is the biggest issue I have faced with clients. Check your local zoning laws first.
