Ok so I see there are a few, ok quite a few posts about Mosin Nagant 91/30s. So I'm sorry in advance for another.

This is my deal: I have been wanting one of these for about 6 months now. I can find them online everywhere at varying prices. I want to avoid transferring one I have never seen but as for my local shops (Newport area) no one seems to ever have them. I have tried a couple of places in the Knox area but they either don't carry them or they are all gone same day.

Guess the short version is: Where can I find these in stock in a brick and mortar location in East TN?

Why thank you ever so much Garufa, I would have never thought of a "Golf and Gun" shop lol. They do in fact have them and I will be making my trip Monday. Thanks again!

Another mosin thread is almost always a good thing. ;)

These are probably the best $100 you will ever spend on the hobby. They do seem to multiply though so make sure you have room for one more.

Oh yeah. My wife shot my 91/30 a few times and now she insists that she needs one and we both need carbines.

When I was ready for one I posted up a WTB thread, here on TGO. A week later I was cleaning cosmoline and lustfully eyeballing a 440 count box of 7.62x54R.

CAN. The boxes are 880. I was the same way. Next thing I knew I had several cans.

dumb question...do these have a really thick coat of clearcoat on them ? and would the varnish stripper you buy for furniture stripping take it off?..I have nearly convinced my husband that I need a Mosin ..But I need to beautify it.. :)

He just informed they do not have any varnish on them...even better:)

I believe it's called "shellac". I took it off easily with 400 grit sand paper.

The cosmoline was way worse than the shellac.

The stocks are finished with shellac. If you must defile one and refinish it, denatured alcohol dissolves the shellac...without the totally unneccesary use of sandpaper. ;)

Mineral Spirits is what I have used, with great success.

Picked up a 1940 Tula yesterday ! It looks like it's been through a war, but it shot sub 1" at 35 yards.
