Grease and Oil

Recommended Posts

Mobile one works perfect and a quart goes forever. I use Lucas Red and Tacky grease on slides. I still buy my solvent though. I'm a fan of Montana Extreme. I don't clean bores often....if ever so I rarely use it. A PROPER prepared cast load will be more accurate if you DON'T clean the bore. After shooting I may run a couple of dry patches down the bore. Most times I don't even do that. My bullet lube recipe contains ATF, STP, and Lucas grease. There's always a nice slick film in the bore anyway. If soot builds up I like to wipe it out so it doesn't hold moisture. People really do over clean their weapons.

I use trumpet valve oil for a wheel gun lube and trombone slide grease on rails and moving parts on a semi auto. Works great. It is available and made for moving metal on metal. I'm going to try brake cleaner for the barrels and wheel innards. Edited by LowBb
