POI shift with suppressor

Recommended Posts

Do any of you have experience with rifle cans and POI shifts?

I finally got to shoot my SCAR 17 with my new can. The can is steel and inconel contruction, so it is a heavy piece. I grouped well with the can, though it did open my groups up quite a bit. I went from about 1 inch 5 shot groups at 100 unsuppressed to about 1.5 inch groups...though, I got a bit crazy and the suppressed 1.5 group was comprised about 15 shots intstead of 5.

Anyway, the only thing that concerned me was that my POI shift was straight down about 6MOA at 100. The SCAR has a light profile barrel, so that may be normal. Was just wondering what you all thought.

EDIT: these were full power loads, BTW.

With a Guardian .22 can, mine is 1 MOA up and 1 MOA right on a .22 rifle. Some say it tightens groups but did not notice that on the rifle. It most certainly tightened groups on a pistol. Lot's of good info over on the THR on the NFA section about cans.
