AR BCG vs Magnetic parts tray.

Had one of my rifles apart and placed my BCG and bolt dissasembled in a magnetic parts tray around 0300 this morning. Around 1400 I started doing what I had to do.

Afterwards i pulled the parts out one at a time and lubed then placed on a rag. Around 1430 i get around to re-assembly.

Go to drop the firing pin in. Seemed like it didn't want to drop in at first, then I realized it was magnetized. It stuck to the side of the BCG , pulled it off and then tried sticking it to the side again, it stuck.

The firing pin had enough juice to hold its own weight while the BCG was held up, picked up the retaining pin with it then i just fiddled with it after that. Messed around for a minute or so I guess before it started loosing its charge.

Never ran into this before, surprised the heck out of me.

That's a good one. I don't know where my magnetic tray is and won't bother looking for it, now. It was

for the garage anyway. That means it's more than lost if it's down there. :D

Similar thing happened with my DPMS LPK... I was worried about losing some of the smaller parts (I have a very inquisitive cat who likes to "help" me when I am working), so I dropped them into my magtray. Next thing you know, all of the springs became magnetized and stuck together, along with the roll pins. The effect was short-lived, but annoying enough while it lasted.

If you drop it on the pavment, somethind solid, a few times it will loose the magnetic power, knocks the electrons

out of line. I know this sounds like so much BS, but it is true.
