Lead Bullets and Cans

So, if you use gas checks, can you shoot lead bullets through a sealed suppressor without fouling it heavily? I have heard mixed opinions.

From what I've read one concern with gas checked bullets is the possibility of the gas check coming loose in the can. I'm unsure of them being clean enough. I would lean toward no.

I would never fire a lead bullet in a sealed can unless the can is 100% stainless steel. You can dip a stainless can in a hydrogen peroxide and vinegar solution to remove all the lead. The problem is the by product is lead acetate. You cannot dump it out onto the ground becayse lead acetate is a very cancerous agent. It is one of only a few chemicals that passes the blood brain barrier. It seeps into ground water , contaminating it and it cannot be removed. But there is good news, it is collected as part of household waste by most hazmat centers. You connot use this method with aluminum cans because it eats aluminum just as quickly as it does the lead. Drop and aluminum can in the solution ind before too long you don't have a can anymore.

Shooting a gas checked bullet will reduce the fouling. But as was already mentioned the gas check can come off inside the can. The gas check itself isn't the problem it is when the next bullet strikes the gas check and then becomes unstable. That will ruin your can and your day.

What caliber are you going to be shooting? The reason I ask is almost every caliber has at least one can that can be taken apart for cleaning.

I have a 30 cal rifle can that is sealed. I also have a break down 9mm can that I used to use with blackout, but the 30 cal can is a lot quieter. I would be shooting lead in a 300 blackout, but I guess I would have to use the louder 9mm can with the lead.
