Im wondering more about how he has his belt threaded through it. Isn't it suppossed to go under the holster? Or have I been totally wrong all these years?

its what they call a slide holster most of them have 4 cut outs for the belt to go through. The belt going around the holster body keeps it tight against you. Crossbreed offers one like that now.

I thought the belt fed in from the front, ran behind the holster(against your pants), then back out the back opening. That way you can actually slide the holster on your belt.

I will sometimes wear my Galco holster this way for a day or two. It helps stretch it back in shape should it sag out a little.

You don't have to wear the belt like that to have a holster tuck in tight. Nor do you need a IWB holster to have your gun pulled up tight to your body. I contour and round my holsters during the drying and gluing process so they wrap around the hip when dry. I have had several people say my holster(s) are as close as most IWB holsters they have tried.

I'd imagine that the holster was threaded through the belt that way at the behest of the photographer.

So many things I could say but I won't! :pleased:

No holster I can think of is designed to be worn with the belt around the outside of the actual handgun. Would add beau coup to belt length necessary, plus makes total thickness of the whole affair more, in no way a plus for IWB or even OWB.

I was wrong about crossbreed offering one, miss remembered lol. I made a slide holster to be worn like that it isn't pretty but worked.

How can it possibly reduce printing since it protrudes out farther from your waistline due to the extra thickness of the belt itself?

As a holster wears, it will develop a slight lean to it, even with a good belt. Even though the belt wraps around the outside, it will pull the holster in much tighter to your body. Modern plastics solve this as they do not stretch like organic materials. That's why I went back to a Serpa for everyday and use my Galco when I go out in public.

^It prints less than a traditional OWB but a slight bit more than a IWB. The belt pulls it in tighter. I just don't care for IWB, it's just not for me. And yes I tried a Crossbreed and a Kholster. I do sometimes wear a Glock sport combat holster in the belt and outer belt, with it it doesn't matter quite so much.

That's what I was thinking too, especially if you use a leather belt. It'd have to be a size or 2 too big at least.

On the upside, it looks like it'd give you a little more clearance to get your thumb in behind the grip when drawing.

Well, live and learn. LumberJack alerted me to a line of OWB holsters that David Bullard is making, actually designed for belt wrapping around outside, he even calls the BTB (Between the Belt):
