 While out shooting at a friends house he asked to see my Colt 1911. I took it out racked the slide back to make sure it was empty looking only in the barrel. I had forgot to drop the mag first. I didn't even think about it when the slide didn't lock back. Well, I said this would never happen to me. I almost blew my foot off thinking I was dry firing the damn thing. And just because someone will ask, I had it pointed away from everyone and at the ground. Talk about a conversation stopper, BOOOMMMM :D

Thank goodness nothing but a pair of drawers and maybe a little pride was harmed...

This link below is a website everyone should visit.

Darwin Teague has turned his accident with a .45

(& 230 gr. Hydra Shoks) into a cautionary tale we can all benefit from...

(Complete with some nasty wound pics...)

Glad you're ok. BTW I did that with my first handgun. Racked, dropped the mag, cleared it, and then "dry" fired at the ceiling. Only I forgot I had put the mag back in!

Surely you meant it was a Glock, things like this just don't happen with any other guns. Glad you're ok there.

Hahah... does that happen a lot in Turdville, TN?

That's funny right there....I had to do a double take, but then I saw it.

Glad everyone was alright. Never had an ND/AD myself. I've been close, with a revolver, as bass-ackwards as that sounds. I wasn't paying attention when I opened the cylinder and tilted the gun back to empty the rounds in it to do some dry fire practice. Didn't notice only 4 came out (5 shot revolver). Dry fired it a couple times, and for some reason decided to open the cylinder again. If I had pulled the trigger one more time... Bout **** myself.
