Does anyone have experience with these guns? I have been looking for something with a ill more punch than 5.56 and ran across one of these at a local Wal-Mart a while back.

Well considering Armalite has gone to #### now (all of their engineers who created the first AR-10, have since left). I just purchased an DPMS LR-308 off of here recently, I haven't shot it yet, but the build quality is topnotch. DPMS arms is the other format of the AR-10 War between Armalite and DMPS....Needless to say, DPMS arms is winning this battle, as more companies build compatible parts for their AR-10 format than for Armalite. One thing to remember is don't expect ammo to be cheap....

I have thought about the ammo but somewhat I understand 7.62 NATO will work in these and is cheaper right? I have an ar 15 but I was looking into something that hits harder. I also looked at a cetme at a local shop too but they seem to have a lot of mixed reviews

It will shoot either 308 or 7.62 x 51 (7.62 NATO), but don't expect to find 7.62 for less than 50 cents a round. You may find Tula or Wolf for 45 cents or so, but any brass is going to be closer to .55 or .60.

The CETME will dent up your brass. I had one for a while, Century build. Was fairly accurate, but mag changes were brutal. Go with an AR10 over a CETME for sure.

My DPMS LR-308 runs flawless. Definitely more punch than the 5.56. I usually get 240 rds. for around $100. The only jams I've had were the Pmags hanging up. I oiled them a little and no more jams ever. You'll probably want a scope since you can reach out there. Overall great rifle for the price.

Well I put my lr308 in layaway today. Su're I had the cash but I won't feel as bad making a couple of smaller payments. Bad part is the cheapest one in the kingsport show was 200 more not including taxes and bg check. Looks like old wally pulled thru on this one!!!
