I recently picked up a Steven's Model 62 for very cheap. It has a black polymer el cheapo stock on it. I am giving the rifle to my daughter as a gift to just be a good Dad. She is in her mid 20's btw.

anyway I thought she would not care either way but that by doing something to the stock she may like it better.

Anyway this is how it turned out.

Vote for me.

Is it black with white stripes or white with black stripes?

J/K. I like it by the way. I was thinking you should have gone with a pink theme, but then you said your daughter is in her mid 20's.

nice , but you could lose that thing on a zebra farm.

white with black stripes, LOL The pic did not show it but there is some tan on the upper half of the stock. Just a light tint of it really. I was going to do pink, but even though it will be her rifle it will be in my safe. She has no where to safely store a firearm. Besides the shade of pink at the WalMart was not very nice. I can always re-do it if she hates it.

It was fun to do. I am going to keep an eye out for another cheapo plastic rifle and do one for me next time.

I have the same .22 rifle as that, and believe it or not, the thing shoots great. I have killed many tree rats with it. Very accurate too. The only draw back is the 10 shot mags is the max. I have not been able to find anyone who makes a larger cap. mag for that gun.....so I went and bought a 10/22.

I am thinking of letting my little brother use it/have it. He would love to have his own. Below is a pic of mine (stock)

That is pretty cool. My daughter would love one like that.

Give us the low down on what you used and how you did it.

Nice job Mike! I like the zebra. I once had a 4-wheeler that was pink & purple tiger stripe that I bought from a freinds girlfreind (it was bad a**) by the way. It was cool but me haveing it I caught alot of greif.

Give us the low down on what you used and how you did it.

I bought paint from Wall mart. Specifically Krylon Fusion For Plastic. I cleaned the stock with Windex and made sure it was real dry.

I made a stick to screw into the stock so as to not interfere with the painting but to give me a long handle to hold on to.

I then painted a few light coats with white paint. No runs no drips no errors. At least thats how the old commercial used to be, LOL .

I then sprayed a layer of tan paint over the top of the stock. I m not sure how to explain this. Looking down on the stock from above, I sprayed over the white. It covered about 30% of the white I had previously painted.

Once the base coat of white and tan was dry ( next day) I used painters masking tape. Laid it out to form a big sheet on a sliding door. (you know, a glass door that slides to access a patio) I then used a razor to cut strips from the tape to make a stencil. i laid the tape over the rifle stock. I made sure the tape was pushed down firmly to fit firmly. This part was hard and tedious.

Once I had it masked off to meet my specifications I sprayed black over the tape. One coat. There is overspray and the pic looks more perfect than the actual end result. But in real life Zebras stripes are not perfect and there is some graying in their stripes. So the over-spray kind of looks like faded striped on an actual zebra.

i did spend a lot of time looking at actual pics of Zebras. they are not all white and black, Lots of options here.

If this explanation is not sufficient PM me and I can help further in private.

is she single? id love to have you as a father-in-law

I take that as a compliment, thank you. yes single, LOL

Bad idea. Question: would you carry/use it like that amongst other guys? Oh, wait, from the votes I guess most of you guys would.

And please stop assuming all women like pink. I don't want a pink blouse much less a pink gun. Now mauve is a cool color. :D
