The annoying regular, every gun shop has one. The guy who "knows" everything about anything. The self proclaimed gun collector that never seems to have any guns.

Lets hear about your said gun store "hero" But first I'll tell you about the guy that has won this title at the shop I go to.

I'm not going to use any real names, so I'll call the guy "Eddie". "Eddie" is the guy who likes to show up when the doors open and leave after there shut, sometime he'll leave for lunch then come back, but predominately he's on a stool in the store. If you where just to stroll in you might even think he owns the place. He'll say "what you here for" when someone walks in ect. This went over semi well until he started running business off being mean to people because of political views, the gun they where looking at, or even the clothes they might be wearing. It was almost funny, but now has stopped since the real owner had a little talk with him. Does anyone else ever run into people like This?

"Caliber clowns". Those guys who try to stand there and tell someone that this, and ONLY this caliber will kill someone. "If you buy that, you might as well just be hitting the bad guy with a fried egg."

Its funny... this thing happens at the Reloaders Bench quite a bit. I think Jim (owner) started makin them work instead of lolling around doing nothing and taking up counter space.

Everytime i get someone to tell me my P32 is too small to kill or even hurt someone, I always offer to let them test it.

Never had any takers. B)

Everyone knows that if it is not a 1911 with a .45 you are just going to piss the bad guy off.

If it is a 1911 shooting a .45 one shot will decapitate them, if it is a Colt their arms and legs will fall off as well.

I never had issues like that.

What I did have is older guys, generally retired, who like to come in and run their mouths. Now, I'm happy for someone to stop in and say hi and maybe tell me/show me what they just bought. For 10 minutes. Not for 45 minutes. The last one that did that I just got up and went to the back.

Amazingly some people really think I care what hunting was like in the 1960s or all the great deals they found at gun shows in the last 20 years.

I have an older gentleman that comes in at least once or twice a week.

*Very nice man, and means no harm.

He will ask me to pull out 6 or 8 pistols each time he comes in. Out of those, he will need, "...my best price, out the door..." on 2 or 3 of them.

After working the numbers, he will linger around for another 30 minutes and then leave.

A week later he will come in, pick out 6 or 8 pistols again, proceed to request me "best price" on several (sometimes the exact same guns he looked at the day/week prior) guns.

He has been doing this for the past 12-18 months.

lol.

I didnt comment on this before, but I will here since its relevant

From the XD-M for 585.00 thread:

Most dealers have a few companies they normally use.

but they are free to use who ever has the best deal.

I understand they are out there to make money, but none of us want to get raped.

example

a local dealer has used glocks for $490, but if you look around you can find them from quite a few sources for $299-$325 (granted I have dealer access to quite a few stores still) but that is a BIG price diffrence.

I even went to one dealer that had the SOG tags on the weapons, so I knew what he paid for the item, as i have SOG access, I offered him $50 more than the newest SOG catalog (he wanted $165 more than what he paid and he had a LOT of them both days) he laughed and said he had paid more for them than that and he was only making $20 off each. I walked away.

I went back the next day with the SOG flyer in hand and laughed and showed him what he had in it, needless to say he was quite pissed and wanted to know how I got ahold of that catalog, and he was going to turn me in to the ATF agent that was there etc. etc. etc.

He lost 2 sales while I Showed him the price in the catalog.

Like I said I don't mind paying a bit more to purchase from a local dealer but most LIE to me about this or that ($20 profit my ass) and dont' act like your doing me a favor.

That is why I order most things via internet (1 I have access to the dealer lists/prices, 2 Usually a LOT cheaper)

I'll list a few examples if anyone cares to read them

NIB HK USPc 357sig $499 CDNN *Dealer only*

NIB Bushmaster M4 $719 SOG *Dealer only*

NIB RRA 9mm AR15 $809 Ar15sales.com * Public *

Factory Referb Glock 22 $329 Summit * Public *

NIB Glock 22/23 $469 Summit * Public *

the list can go on forever.

Im going to state for the record here, if that TGO member or ANY customer comes in and disrespects me, my shop, my employees, or my customers they will be escorted off the premises, and will be asked not to return.

That persons actions showed a total lack of respect for the shop owner, and was completely without class.

I agree with you Joe. I am a bargain hunter myself, but most people expect to pay dealer price or "internet" price and do not understand or care what is takes to run a business. If people constantly go in to shops to fondle the guns and then order off the Internet instead of from the shop, then the shop will eventually no longer be there.

I have no problem paying a fair price with a reasonable mark up, I just don't want to be bent over it goes against my life style

Yup. 100%.

I have a couple of "customers" who come in and look at a bunch of stuff. Then I get the "what is your best price out the door" line.

So I tell them, depending on my mood, financial situation, how long the gun has been there, etc. Let's say "$575 out the door."

"Would you take $450?"

No, I just told you what my best price out the door is.

I hate chiselers.

You wouldn't be talking about the barber shop....I mean the Ammo Dump would you?

I swear that place is more like an old barber shop then a gun shop! One old guy working, and 4 other old guys there just talking! They even have there own bar stools standing in the middle of the floor!

It is an experience though!

Folks gotta make money, I understand this and the guy did disrespect the shop owner. Theres a lot of overhead in that business. I admit that I am a fondler of firearms and have been known to feel one up and go to the gunshow for a better deal. Thats usually due to my finantial situation. On the flip side i have seen fella go into a shop to trade up or sell and the dealer lowball the piss out of em. Sometimes offering a couple hundred less for a gun purchased in their shop recently. If ive spent several hundred bucks in a shop and ask for a reasonable deal on something, well it at least dserves thought, not a laugh or a scoff. Just my opinion though.
