Loading Tracers

So I'm gonna load some tracers soon, 62gr. Since they are about 1/4" longer than comparable 62gr bullets should I start below recommended minimum (22.5grs) for the powder and weight or should I be ok at the minimum? I'm assuming I can go above the minimum before I get to excessive pressure, but the Internet being what it is I've read all sorts of scenarios.

I would start a bit lower. Those rounds take up more case volume which can significantly increase the pressures. I have zero clue about load data or where to start but you need to start low and watch for pressures. Theoretically you should be able to get the the same velocity with less powder.

That's basically my thoughts. Hogdon H335 min 22.5 grs, so I thought I'd start at an even 20 grs. I have 1000 boolits, so I'd like to say these are just for fun, but most will be SHTF stock, so some accuracy is desired, but minute of zombie is fine.

I use them to start my burn pile when it is that time. Pour a little accelerator on the pile. Lock and load. Then stand back and watch the show. Ba-zing!

Yeah man! A few gallons of Low octane tractor gas and let it steep for ten or fifteen minutes. Fifty yard minimum. Gotta love the big Waaaaooomp! Fire is so cool.

USFS? TDF?

No I'm a private consulting forester, but if a fire starts and TDF comes, I still have to stay and monitor(the tough job :D )

I have done a stint with the USFS in Colorado fighting fire, got real close and friendly with a Stihl Chainsaw
