So looking at buying my first tree stand.

I'm about 6 ft 250 lbs, and I'm wanting to get a climber treestand to expand my hunting a little bit. One important thing to me (at least I think) is being comfortable, I've been hunting out of a ladder stand with a very short foot platform and can't stand it. My legs get all cramped up knee starts hurting etc.

I can get a new summit Titan climber for $200. I've heard they were the biggest climber summit makes, I understand the Goliath is the same but smaller foot platform. I figured there would be tons of reviews online, but I've only found a couple.

Would the Titan suit my needs, and is it a good stand ,or do I need to look elsewhere? I'm also a gun and bow hunter so I need something that would suit both of those needs.

I have a summit SS Viper. It's a great climbing stand, but yes it's a small foot platform and standing up can nerve racking, especially if its below freezing and like me you have on rubber boots.

Summits are great stands, hands down. If you think the Titan is being enough I'd say go for it. One thing to think about, the larger it is, the mor cumbersome it is to carry into your hunting area. I find it difficult to carry the climber in in the dark and get setup before daylight. If you hunt in place you feel comfortable I would place the stand the night before. Then just hike in and climb the tree. I know this defeats the purpose of having a mobile stand, but can save some stress especially if you're like me and tend to be late every time I go hunting.

Secondly mine makes a lot of noise while in the backpack setup. I think summit had addressed this issue with a spray coating that deadens the sounds of the aluminum. But I'd pack it around some before taking it hunting to make sure it's not like carrying a cowbell into the woods.

Have you tried any of the summit aaccessories? I saw there are some side rail packs you can buy, to keep all the gear in no backpack needed, and they also have a foot extension I think I would like.

We are about the same size. I've used a Titan for years and have no complaints. Over the years I've had the Ol'man, Viper, and Titan. The Titan is hands down the best, but that's my opinion. I've also had the chance to hunt out of a couple API's. API had a real big climber at one point. It was even bigger than the Titan but it was much heavier. It was so big that when climbing I couldn't set on the cross bar when pulling up the lower section up. I didn't like the chain on the API either, a little too hard to set up in the dark.

I have a Summit Goliath, and it is an A+ treestand in all catergories. Easy to use, sturdy, lightweight, and comfortable. I wouldn't change a thing about it.

Thanks guys, think I'm going to have to get the Titan with the foot rest bar and the side bags that mount to the rails. Are they pretty easy to take a catnap in? Haha

I have not used any of the summit accessories. I have a three prong screw that goes into the tree.

And yes I have slept many hours in mine :D

Well put it this way, I've spent waaaaaay more time asleep in my titan than I'd like to admit to. I'm primarily a longbow hunter & I find the bar gets in my way, so i switched to a lone wolf hand climber, but from the opening day of M/L season thru rifle season, the summit is the placed to be. I can climb very quickly & quietly & you've got to be terminally retarded to be able to have an accident in it. Other then the driver's seat of my truck, it's the most comfortable seat i own.

Awesome, I don't like to sleep while hunting but sometimes I'm only running off a couple hours of sleep.

I bought a Tree Lounge a few years before they went out of business. That is the most comfortable and safe treestand I have ever used. Excellent for letting deer walk buy while sawing logs. The bow platform is really nice to stand up and stretch the legs a little.

Yeah I was going to buy a tree lounge right before they went our of business. Went to their website and saw they had stopped

My only complaint is that it is really heavy for a deer stand and with it fully extended with the bow platform attached it makes it super hard to get the leverage necessary to ascend and descend.
