There's the new addition...looking forward to getting a scope on and getting it ready for rifle season. I also got to handle the new .45acp XDs while I was there, and I was very impressed with the size and comfort in my hand.

Thanks for all the help!

Heck yeah! That gun is clean! Awesome!!!!

With the money you saved you got no excuse for slapping some Barska trash on it. Buy some reasonable quality glass for it. I vote Nikon Prostaff. You won't regret it.

Then work you up a handload and meet one VERY accurate rifle.

I'll post pictures later tonight of the Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 BDC that I put on it today. Luckily had some coupons to Dick's Sporting Goods and was able to get it about as cheap as I would anywhere online, plus they used the boresight on it to get it close to zero (hopefully).

Think it's ready for some deer...now I just need some quality time shooting. Scope mounted with Weaver 1" High Rings. I'm a happy guy!

Looks great. Just curious, why did you go with high rings? I just recently purchased and mounted a 3x9-40 Leupold VX2 and went with low rings on my Remington 700 SPS Varmint in 308.

tried medium rings but the objective bell was hitting the mount base and causing it to be way to high when they tried to zero it. tried the high rings and that fixed the problem.

Congrats on the Savage! I have one just about identical to that one (cannot tell if yours has the Accutrigger like mine or not), but even without it, they are great rifles, and a steal at that price! Each rifle is different, but I have had very good results (accuracy and stopping power) with the Federal Vital-Shok with 165 gr. Sierra GameKing soft points, before I started rolling my own. I do not think you will be disappointed with your purchase.
