Google Stock Bites It

Good.

Maybe they'll reconsider the firearms/ammo block policy. This wasn't mentioned in any of the coverage, but it couldn't have helped -- a pay through click in Shopping is revenue, and if the firearms industry can't kick in, then screw 'em.

I heard a news story I while back and it said the company that Google feared most was not Apple as some would guess but it was Amazon. As you know Google gets it revenue through searches. It seems people have come to expect that Amazon will likely be a good place to start a search for a product so they go directly to Amazon and search their site. No need for Google. Ha.

I said this in a similar thread but anyone that has an Android phone like myself, like it or not, can't get away from Google.

Doesn't matter if you use Google or not to part of their bottom line, since you can't click on a revenue generating firearms/ammo link that doesn't exist.

The companies just don't invest into internet marketing like they used to. Most of google's revenue iirc, comes from adwords, and the cpc bid amounts have gone down drastically as well. Back in 2006-2007 I was brining in anywhere from $2k-$3k/month on adsense from a couple of websites and forums. Now I've doubled the number of sites and make roughly 10% of that number.

Once Google started tracking ctr's and other metrics to provide very specific marketing options, the customers learned that things aren't as rosey as initially thought. My prediction is that google will soon be turning their home page into a portal like bing, yahoo etc to fill in the expanding gap.

I never understood how internet ads could make money (for the advertiser). I never read internet ads, never click on internet ads (except sometimes by accident) and so studiously ignore them on web pages they may as well be invisible. Maybe some folk actually read or respond to them, but any money an advertiser pays to get my attention is just completely wasted money.

It's not just the separate ads, the click throughs from Google Shopping searches pay also. Dunno about the ones that still appear in general search, though. Probably some do, since Google has admitted that many results are "weighted" by flat fee paid placement bias.

Myself, I've really missed the Google Shopping feature for firearm stuff. Bing just isn't nearly as comprehensive, nor does it necessarily default to cheapest first and etc.

I was watching the news this morning. The stocks tanked when someone "accidentally" released their profits. Evidentally there was enough of a loss to cause their stocks to drop. Wallstreet even suspended trading because they had dropped so quickly.

They're blaming it on RR Donnely for releasing it early. I guess it hurt them because they couldn't pre-empt it

with their quarterly report or something. Oh, well.
