I'd like to find an FFL in the Cleveland area that doesn't charge $40 for a transfer. Anyone have any experience with any good ones around?

Silvers, the one shop in town I have never been to. Good thoughts though!

Sidenote: Fugates claimed when I talked to them about it she would have to charge me salestax. I personally have never actually had an item transferred from the internet, but it is my understanding that if you were to purchase the item from out of state and have it shipped to your FFL, all the FFL does is transfer + background check. Is this correct?

They can not charge you sales tax because you are not buying anything from them.

Posey's, just went in their the other day. Lot of stuff on the walls and in the cases, but I was hoping that they would stock larger selection of ammo and magazines. But I suppose $30 is as cheap as we can get it since we unfortunately have the check fee.

$30 isn't bad, just wish we could have them for half that like some places in the country.

I agree. I think Posey's is missing an opportunity to sell more accessories and ammo. They doubled the size of thier shop just a few months ago, so I keep hoping they will "grow into it". $30 is the cheapest I have found in Cleveland. You could possibly drive to a cheaper transfer, but by the time you buy gas it erases the savings.

I have done transfers at Volunteer Ordinance Works and Posey's. Both were pleasent experiences.

I thought Posey's had to hold firearms for 30 days since he is licensed as a Pawn Broker?

They have never held mine. I have bought from their inventory and used them for transfers. The process was no different than any other gun shop.

Could that pertain only to guns that were pawned by an individual to make sure they were not stolen?

I use Poseys. I have never had them hold one for longer than it takes me to get down there.
