Woman Calls Orem Police To Free Her From Her Locked Car

Automatic car features are supposed to make life easier for motorists, but they may be leaving some people without the know-how to do things the old-fashioned way. That’s what happened to a driver in Utah County who became trapped inside her own car.

A woman called Orem police Friday afternoon needing help because her battery died and she was locked inside her car.

When police arrived, they found the woman sitting in the car, unable to get herself out. She couldn’t hear the officers instructions through the rolled-up windows so she motioned to them to call her on her cell phone, according to police.

Once officers were able to talk to the woman on the phone, they were able to tell her how to manually operate the slide lock mechanism on the inside door panel to open the door and free herself.

“I'm just glad she had a cell phone to call for help,” an officer said.

Um, wow.

I answered 911 for Murfreesboro PD for seven years. That seems about par for the course. In case you don't know MTSU is in M'boro and adds about 25,000 students to our population. Now I work on campus and I really don't understand how most of these people get through a single day without killing themselves or someone else.

Everytime the bill comes up to allow CC on college campuses, I agree fully ... just delete that part about students. They're scary enough with just cars and cellphones.

I'd like to remind you that stupidity is not age thing, if college students can't carry because there stupid then using your logic nobody should be allowed to carry. And please don't lump all of us together as "college students".

The least they can do is send her a bill for the man hours wasted due to her stupidity.

My Dept still does car "unlocks" for people.

Recently, I arrived to help a lady locked out of her car.

"Ma'am, is this the car you're locked out of ?"

Looking at me like I'm a moron for asking, she says, "Yes."

"This one here with the window rolled down?"

There are no lifeguards in the gene pool...
