Hi again everybody! Got an S&W M&P .40 for my birthday. Yay!

So I've been gone from the forum for a couple years now and haven't gone shooting more than once or twice a year since about 2008 due to personal finances being in the toilet and whatnot, but I feel like we're finally coming out of that awful hole. Debt is gone, we're able to save a good bit, and I'm very thankful that God has honored my wife and I with our own little economic recovery for now.

I have been working at Gibson USA in Nashville since the beginning of the year and it has worked out well. I dig my job most days, and I'm very thankful for the better pay. I've been feeding my guitar addiction mostly, but now am getting back into guns again! Last week I cleaned off my reloading bench and plan to start loading again in the next week or two. I looked in my loading notes and haven't made a round for 3.5 years!!

Ummm.... pretty sure every one of you knows what a full size M&P .40 looks like, so I won't bother posting pics.

I've missed you guys (well... MOST of you anyways ;-) ) and look forward to taking part in the forum banter again. Maybe we'll see each other at the range again soon!

I'm to new to remember you but still glad all the same that things are looking up for you and yours. How do you like Gibson all in all? I've heard mixed things about working there but I've always wanted too. Lord knows I've bought enough of their stuff, the least they should do would be give me money that I can turn around and give back to them lol.

Congrats on the birthday and gift.

Thanks folks!

Gibson is OK. Like any place, there are tons of politics and bullcrap to put up with, but the work isn't bad. I mean... we flippin' make guitars! But you don't sit around and play all day, it's a fast-paced environment. Unless you are an adjuster or final QC, you don't get to play them at all.

Well, I haven't seen any confiscated stuff come back to us, but I'm just a peon and don't get daily briefings. :-) However, we do have rosewood fretboards again. We've had rosewood back since early in the year anyways. I know there was a strong negative reaction in the marketplace to the torified maple fretboards, but I actually like some of them... a lot! But that may be because I'm kind of a Fender Tele guy at heart. (Don't tell that to my new PRS SE semi-hollow! I love that thing!!)

How long were you all out of rosewood? A little over a year right? One of these day they will probably be about as collectible as anything coming out of the USA shop. Just give it about ten-twenty years and people will realize just how "special" they are. I personably thought it was a great idea, I've been building kits and such so haven't been buying ready built guits otherwise I'd look specifically for one.

The raid was in September (I think... I started on Jan 3rd this year) and we had rosewood by mid-summer. We are continuing with the richlite fretboards on the Midtown custom and standard with humbuckers. They feel great!!! The new Midtowns with P90s have rosewood.
