It's by far advisable to separate art from politics -- otherwise one's knowledge and appreciation of those arts will be quite limited indeed.

How true. Now, if the artists would just stop intertwining the two.

What makes a musician or actor so brilliant that we should give a crap about what they have to say? Most do one thing very well and that's what they should get credit for.

This nation's obsession with celebrities is disgusting. I could give a #### what Springsteen's politics are just like any other musician, actor, athelete, etc. If him playing a few songs sways voters then that's just further proof we are screwed.

When we continue to spend the enormous amounts of money on their products that buy the stage they expound from. As long as we pay them, they will believe they are worth it.

Agreed. Plus, if you were even a passing fan of Springsteen and were unaware of his politics, you weren't paying attention. He doesn't hide them. He'll, he asked the Reagan campaign to stop using "Born in the USA" at their rallies.

I really have to ask...what does AFIK mean?

Duh...

As Far As I Know. I know a few folks from Jersey. They consider him a home town boy.

There we go, that's where I thought he was born. Doesn't seem like it now though.

most of the really loud ones are has-been's looking to get ANY KIND of attention at all --- which stimulates a little bit of interest and sells a few copies of their old material. This seems to be true on both sides of the aisle. Once in a while you get someone who is current opening their trap but most of the current folks just want to make music or movies or play their sport etc.

The folks you will see trying to get their 20 seconds on the news are people have not had a major piece of work since 1990.

Bruce isn't one of them. Still filling big venues in and outside the US. Has a current album on a major label too. Politics aside, he's a big star

Heh, did not know that. I figured he could sell out a tour but the last time I heard about him as a major star was 20+ years back. I must listen to the right station.

The accolades for their tradecraft and their financial success creates a narsacissistic effect on their belief system. They believe that their opinions are important to society at large. Of course, they are wrong, but there you have it. No one should argue that their effect on their fan base is considerable. Just look at all the morons out there walking around while holding their pants up to have the look of someone's style that they idolize.

Stiil, you are an idiot if you let any artist convince you to believe a certain way - particularly an actor since they are accomplished liars.

Anybody else find it ironic that for their assault on high-achievers, that they pick "the Boss" to be the face of the campaign?

I find it ironic how they get a bunch of wealthy people who are all about making other wealthy people give away their money to the "poor" but retain their money to themselves. To me it's the epitome of hypocrisy. How can one sit in a multi-million dollar mansion and expouse how other people need to help the poor? Sell your friggen mansion, expensive vehicles, jewelry, etc, and give the money to the poor - then you can talk smack to others about it.

Pretty easy. They consider themselves the intellectual elite, and are above the rules that govern the common citizen.

Actually, it's you that is wrong. Many people get their (version of the) news from these celebritards. That's the unfortunate truth. Just look at how many people use Jon Stewart and The Daily Show or Whoopi and that cow Joy Bayfart on The View as their sole source of news and opinion. It's pretty sad, isn't it?
