Can anybody tell me an avg wait time for a shield?

IIRC I got mine about six weeks after making a deposit. I paid my money and forgot about it until my dealer called.

It depends what dealer you get it from. call around, see if anyone has them in stock. if they have some sort of deal with S&W, then their pricing might be less than others. I onlky had to wait a week for mine. Hero Gear had them in stock for $357 +tax and background check( $400) total. Other places I priced before had them for around $450-500 and you had to get put on a list. Best to be guaranteed a shield is to get your name put on a list at several shops. Be sure to tell them if you want a 9mm or .40.
