Hey all,
I swiped the "Flatwoods Beast" from Dan to bring into work. i was telling them about it and they just had to see it. Now if i had a printer like in the movie Office Space, I would use the Flatwoods Beast instead of a baseball bat,. Oh well...
Now that would make for an intresting video....

I touched up the convex edge using a ~600 grit belt on my belt grinder. It's not shaving sharp but it will slice through a t-shirt just fine (I use old t-shirts as shop rags). I was able to baton through a scrap 2x4, twice, easily without disturbing the edge. I also hacked halfway through the 2x4 with ease, again, without disturbing the edge.

Next, I tested the strength of the tip.

And... (I can't get it to embed the PB video so here's a link.)

Its that smoked deer hide thats with the knife lol. I was hoping it wouldn't be to offensive, it hung around the camp all weekend before I wrapped the knife in it to ship. Sorry fellas. Have you guys been signing the leather wrap?
Spots...which hide is it? Send me just the hide last, and I'll sign it if it's one of the ones I provided, if you would like me to.

I'm not gonna lie, that video made my cringe. I didn't think it would break, but thats a lot of force on a tip. I'm glad it performed well, and thanks for the sharpening

Hey, I'm sorry but I'm going to drop out of the passaround. We've had a recent death in the family and I'm just out of free time for awhile. Y'all have fun without me! ;-)

That's rough buddy. Sorry for your loss.

The knife arrived today. First impressions are good, it's definitely solid. The handle is a bit loose as someone mentioned before, but it's certainly a functional, comfortable knife.

I should be able to get some testing done this week!

Don't rush on my account.... I believe I'm next on the list and I'll be pretty busy until the next weekend....

Unfortunately, I've had very little time to do much of anything specific. I've been using the knife as much as practical as a 'daily' knife.

I can understand very well not having time to do anything. What have you been doing with it as a daily knife? Id love to here about normal day to day applications.

Opened some feed sacks, stripped the outer insulation off some multi conductor cable, lots of baling twine. :) It's not something I would want to carry every day for those type of tasks, but it works. Tomorrow should be more in it's wheelhouse, I have some timbers that need to be shortened.

I took the knife out for some chopping last night. All I did in the first picture was to hold the knife about a foot above the board and let it fall under it's own weight. I was surprised at how far it went into the board.

The next pictures are of the knife vs a 4x6" timber. The knife worked pretty well. The handle had a tendency to slide in my hand just a bit, I had to regrip after a couple of swings. Not a big deal. Overall, I was impressed with the knife. I haven't had any others that I would've attempted this with!

So my test wasn't impressive?

Buddy, I give your knives a double A+!!!

I am gonna use your knife tomorrow to completely process a deer. It's been "slammed, hammered and blown up"....I believe she's still up to the task! We'll see....

Your test was insanely impressive, and entertainment to boot. Im glad you enjoy my blades, and I hope that one givew you years of service in all your task. It was by far the hardest torture test Ive seen a knife survive, and Im not bragging on my knives, just impressed anything will take all that abuse Edited by Spots
