Just received the Knife today, WOW, this blade is huge the pics do not do it justice. Very Beefy yet well balanced. This takes me back to my child hood time when I would go with my Grand Paw to the Amish Black Smith. Very unique and would definitely make a great survival knife. I will be testing it out this weekend with some chores I have planned. Can’t Wait.

It has a unique smell to it doesn't it? haha it's still lingering in my truck.
That's one thing I forgot to mention, the smell when you open the box is like walking into a BBQ joint or something.

Its that smoked deer hide thats with the knife lol. I was hoping it wouldn't be to offensive, it hung around the camp all weekend before I wrapped the knife in it to ship. Sorry fellas. Have you guys been signing the leather wrap?

[i]Yeah I have, its been abusy weekend. I took out 2 twisted Maples for a friend. Actualy wore the knife for a while and used it to trim some small branches as I headed to the top to do some trimming. The knife is Awesome, I do not have any picks while I was working, but we all retired to our fire pit at the end of the day and needed some kindling. I hope these movies work. Most of the wood Im splitting is 2-3'' cherrie and it worked very well. A friend want me to try it out on a golf ball. Not a problem, it did not cut all the way thru but I was holding back incase i missed and had to chase to ball around the yard. I love the feel and use of this blade. And hope to purchase one soon. Yeah they aren't working for me either. I tried both ways of opening. I would try uploading to photobucket if you have one, its free to make an account if you dont have one.

I'm glad you like it, it seems to be proving to be a good knife from the testing I've seen. This one will be for sale after all the testing is complete. Again, thanks for helping me test my stuff guys. Edited by Spots

They worked perfect for me this time. Looks like its really doing a good job for splitting kindling. That golf ball test was cool.

Well with great regret today I ship to BroomHead. This is an awesome knife, used it yesterday to clear some shooting lanes for a friend in his Deer Honey Hole. The only down side to the knife is the grip. Its a little loose (most likely from the hard tests it has endured) and well the crack has been discussed but it adds that old weathered look that I love. This is nothing that has effected to knife but replacing the handle could be tricky the way the knife is put together. I would not hesitate to purchase one of these knifes from Spots and hope to do so very soon. Thank You Sir for allowing me to participate in the Pass Around. It has with Great efficiency completed every task I have asked of it.

This was my first through tang grip knife and looking back there were somethings that I should have done differently, and that I now do differently for all my through tangs. Number one is that tang is to big to a full hidden tang. Its 3/8" thick and an 1 1/8th" wide which meant it took a bigger whole than it should have. The second thing I wish I had done was use the expoxy I use now. Its very thick and forms well, and would have filled any nooks and crannies, plus instead of relying on just the compression of the pommel, it would have also been glued. Im anxious to see how the grip continues to perform, and I rest a lil easier knowing that so far the only deficiency found is one I had already started correcting.

Got the bowie in the mail yesterday. It is a beast to say the least. Needs to have the edge touched up though. I may take a ceramic rod to it and sharpen it a little. I've got a few plans for it this week. I'll get it to Musicman probably by the weekend. Incidentally, he and I live pretty close together...No shipping charges for me...Hopefully we can just meet up. I'll post pics and/or videos of the fun.

Hey all,
I swiped the "Flatwoods Beast" from Dan to bring into work. i was telling them about it and they just had to see it. Now if i had a printer like in the movie Office Space, I would use the Flatwoods Beast instead of a baseball bat,. Oh well...
