Amen to that. That beard is righteous. The bowie wouldnt shave a beard on pure principal of the fact that a clean shave just aint right.

It just arrived in the mail! First impression.......Meaty. Hopefully I can find some things to do with it tonight. I will try to get some videos up in addition to pictures. What's the best way to post videos up? Upload to youtube then link?

Either up load to youtube or photobucket. If you dont edit and just upload off a phone then photobucket is easier Edited by Flatwoods Forge

I don't care to wave that part. I waved it for BJB also. That is to keep people from joining up posting an intro, asking for the knife then disappearing. You've been a member since 09 I think thats plenty of time. If you want added to the list then let me know here and I'll add ya.

The gears are turning in my head....... Thinking maybe a line of melons to represent Zombie heads just for fun. I'm sure I will have to do the mandatory wood chopping and other stuff you might actually use the knife for.

Maybe this will work..........

Here are two videos out of three I took last night. I couldn't get the third one to upload as it was pretty large. I just chopped up some kindling for a small fire and it worked great. You have to hold the knife to really feel how meaty it is. The third video I couldn't upload shows me splitting some old hard 2x10's that were about 20" long. It took two or three hard chops but it split them right into. I hope to find more to do with it today.

Man, from what I'm seeing, Spot's knife would make one hell of a camp/utility knife!

Thanks Dave. It'll be for sale after this and should make someone a dandy camp tool.

3/8" thick, 2.5" wide, and 13" long. It was a chunk of leaf spring from a pickup truck. We actually cut a full spring into pieces.

Well I won't get another chance to make any good videos this week so I will be sending it to BJB tomorrow. I have to say it would be a great knife to have around in a survival situation. Thanks to Flatwood Forge for letting us participate in this. I had a lot of fun with it!

This is what Maroonandwhite sent me in a pm. Talk about a great guy, he didn't want to post a review that mentioned the handle was cracked to make sure I didn't look bad. Thanks man.

Hey man. Just getting ready to ship the knife out to the next guy tomorrow. Thanks for letting me participate in this. I LOVED the knife. It feels good in the hand, has plenty of weight in the right spots and just looks cool! The only thing I noticed that may be worth looking at is the handle itself. It had a few cracks in it when I received it. It didn't look like it was caused by use but rather just the wood naturally expanding or contracting. Don't get me wrong it's not broken or even close. The handle is sturdy I could just see it possibly being a problem on down the road as it ages.

On the other hand though it added to the old timey look of the knife so maybe that is what you were going for. Either way great job on a great knife!
And this is what has caused the handle to crack:
As for the handle, that was actually my fault, and wasn't intentional. ITs very well seasoned oak, and after we first made it, I got it home, and decided the handle was to large. Well the tang in that knife is 1 1/8" wide, and after I rasped and sanded like crazy it made the handle thin. Then to get the worn in handle look I soaked it in vinegar for a couple hours, then tong oiled it. So after the vinegar soaked the moisture out it developed a crack in the thin spot. So a lot of this test is for me to find out if the handle is up to par. Thanks for helping me out. Jordan
The insurance commercial featuring Gallagher actually gave me the idea! I'll let someone else go through with it though haha.

Shows how observant I can be at times, I didn't even notice the crack. Take heart Spots that I doubt it will be much of an issue if at all.

If you ever epoxy a handle on, then don't soak it in vinegar. The vinegar will eat away at the epoxy causing gaps and soft spots.
