Long story short I traded for a newish 638 airweight that has been semi polished, all markings are there but along with hundreds of scratches.

Was wondering if anyone knew of or could recomend any shops or company's near or in Nashville that could either finish the polish job. Or completely refinish (not just paint it)

Any help is useful.

Having polished a few guns for no really good reason except for one I recommend that you start at 2000 grit and see what happens. The 638 is not worth that much used that someone would want to spend much time polishing aluminum unless you want to pay big money for a gun that does not warrant it. I would do it yourself or just use it the way it is. If you got it at a great price just because it was ugly congratulations, because it will work well ugly or not. But I suspect you are talking a 225.00 gun at best so why spend more money? Enjoy a good deal and carry it with impunity.

I have S&W 642 that I boogered up pretty good. I sent it to Accurate Plating and Weaponry. They cleaned it up, bead-blasted the frame, re-engraved the logo, and did a silver hard chrome on it. I have carried it on and off for years, including about 5 years as my daily back-up gun while working as a LEO. It looks as good today as when I sent it off. They are located in Newville, Alabama.

Graycrait is right.

Just carry it and worry not. Function and accuracy are all that matters. There's a comfort in having a good gun that's trustworthy but not pretty.
