FYI..If you don't want to view someone's post...add them to your ignore list.

All you see is that they made a post and that they are on your ignore list.

Too bad I know that the forum software won't let Admin or Moderator accounts be ignored. :)

Crap...caught in a lie.

Tungsten, I added Voldemort to my ignore list. It has to do with what he is trying to do to us. I don't want to hear it any more from him. The best way for me to do that is for him to be added to my ignore list. I thank all the mods and admins for keeping the site going. I feel that I have made some friends here and want to keep things that way. If he wants to OC...that is fine. It's his right and he can legally do that. However, to start going to the malls to get them to legally post I think is taking things a little to far. As I said before, the law is clear. If the place is not legally posted, all they can do is ask you to leave, and you must leave or face criminal trespass charges. If they are properly posted, then you cannot legally enter. The problem with that is if he gets all the malls posted, only the criminals will have guns in the malls. It seems that he thinks if the malls are legally posted, then the BG's won't carry there...kinda like the gun-free zone video on you-tube

I'd put some peple on my ignore list, but it wears off after awhile.

Voldemort will follow a coversation to the end of the earth to piss people off. With a personality like that he probably needs to cary a gun for protection. What a *&^%$^*(&%$

I have been thinking the same thing while reading the other thread and I cannot understand why someone would go to all the trouble to make it worse when it is easier to keep it hidden and go about your business. At least we can go in whit a weapon without breaking the law if it is not properly posted. Doing this is not going to help anything, just make it worse. I just don't understand.

Unfortunately, as a Mod I feel like I should read the stupid comments too. But I may change my mind in the case of one or two people.

So far I'm seeing some really good application of the Ignore feature mentioned in this thread. I suspect if we ran a report, we'd see one user in particular showing up on a lot of ignore lists.

Hope that isn't me

I choose not to ignore people with a differing opinion to mine. I've never used an ignore list on any board I've been on. Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment. If nothing else though, those different opinions serve to reinforce my own ideas and why I have them. I disagree with Voldemort and his comments and his posts about the results of his actions serve to reinforce why I do things the way I do.

I wonder if you ignore yourself, what would happen.

What???

Who said that???

There would be a hole in the time-space continuum and the universe would cease to exist.

Agreed!

Many times my opinions differ from others on TGO, but that's actually one of the aspects I truly like about TGO. I don't agree with everyone, all of the time, and I'm quite sure many disagree with my opinions.

As grown men and women, we should be long past the "I'm takin' my ball and goin' home" pahses in our lives. I have some very close friends whom I often disagree with, and vice versa, but never have we concidered not being friends over differing opinions. There are a handful of members who I often disagree with, but I'd still love to hang out with them at the range, or a cold one. Differing opinions is one of the many things I find most fascinating about people in general.

Stupidity, one the other hand, that's a whole nother story.

BTW--I can only imagime who's ignore list I've made.

i love this forum just because of the differences. ignore to me is sort of high school.will there be post i dont agree with, surely, but what the heck its all good. trouble with our kind of people is bickering, bet the left wingers dont fight like we do. what if we all got together just once to get something done it'd be a damned sight to see.

I think that everyone has an opinion and is entitled to it. I just think a certain person takes things way to far and blows them all out of proportion. That is why that person is on my ignore list and will stay there for quite some time. It just seems that he likes to start stuff to get attention and get folks riled up. I'm not here for that. I'm here to share our thoughts in a reasonable manner and hopefully become good friends with as many of you as I can. If that person is doing it just to get to folks, then he got to me. Putting him on the ignore list is the best solution for me, that doesn't mean it will or won't work for anyone else.

Yes, having differing opinions is one thing, but taking something wayyy too far and purposefully posting in order to start arguments is something completely different.

Differing opinions is great, breeds a healthy debate, and hopefully in the end, everyone learns something and is more understanding, even if their opinion differs than the person they had the argument or discussion with.

Ignoring someone because they are purposely causing turmoil and because they are a complete asshat in every thread they are a part of is a completely different story.

Maybe the person is trying to see if they will get banned so they can sue for discrimiination. Has anyone ever been banned from TGO?

The ingnore feature does have purpose...If someone was harrasing someone, although a report to an Admin or Mod, should take care of that...or if you simply do not care to read what someone else has to say.

I too have friends who I have different opinions about some things on. I think resonable, intelligent people can have different views and still be friends or at least fellow members of an internet forum. As long as the debate/discussion is kept to the ideas/views and doesn't become about the person. Of course that is where the resonable & intelligent thing comes in... :D
