What's bad is there are 2 churches within 1 mile of him that would help get clothes a place to stay and try to help him get a job. But more than likely he doesn't want to work has a home and this is how he wants to earn money.

If he's anything like this guy that lives in my neighborhood it's the way he supplements his EBT benefits. Gotta pay for that oxycodone somehow.

Mike, Amanda called me and told me so I had her make a U-turn and snap the pic. Had I been in there I would have waited till I was right beside him.

Do we... wanna know how you know that?

You ever seen a circumcised goat? You don't have to snatch their britches down to find out :)

This is a very common sight in Murfreesboro for some reason. I would assume that the city has some sort of panhandling ordnance, but if they do, they don't enforce it from what I've seen.

Yep same in H'Ville. See them all the time near Indian Lake and Gallatin Rd.

Why take the pay cut? He's making a lot more doing what he's doing.

I was up in SE KY this weekend on a camping trip when we stopped for gas. A fella shambled up to me from the station and said he was a veteran, and hungry and broke (he didn't look too hungry as he was bigger than I am) and asked if I could help. I reached into the truck and got him an old MRE that I was taking as backup food. When I handed it to him, he asked what it was (he was about 40 years old). I told him it was food and to enjoy.

He looked disappointed.

Sitting at the intersection of Cedar Bluff and Peter's Road one day, waiting for the red light to go green, I saw a Toyota that looked newish - not brand new but the newest vehicle I've ever bought was more than five years old so a couple of years old is newish, to me - pull into an empty parking lot. There was a woman driving, a male in the passenger's seat and two dogs in the car. The guy - who was dressed like you would expect a 'homeless' person to be dressed - got out, retrieved a cardboard sign from the back seat, got one of the dogs out of the car (had it on a leash) and proceeded to walk to the median of the intersection to begin panhandling while the woman and the other dog waited in the car. I was there through a couple of cycles of the red light (anyone familiar with that light/intersection will understand) so I witnessed the entire series of events. It looked pretty obvious, to me, that the whole thing was a big scam and probably a regular routine for the guy and the woman. Of course, had I not seen them arrive, etc. I probably would have never noticed that she was sitting in the car waiting for him. I felt sorry for the dog for being demeaned by being used in such a manner.

I have nothing but contempt for beggars. I support 4 people; I can't respect a grown man that can't/won't so much support himself. I'll be darned if I'll share any of my money with him. My run-ins with beggars are always very confrontational and are never cordial on my part. Especially considering that every sorry bum that has the nerve to solicit a handout from me is far fatter than I am. I'll start giving them donations when the start agreeing to hold my target stands up when I zero my rifles.

I hate that crap. It's at epidemic levels in Memphis. I have issues with giving a man anything. It's worse on Sundays. You can't even get thru a red light because of all of the guilt giving after the churches let out.

Its thousands of times worse in California. I've never been in a place where 3 or 4 bums will fight over the "good" street corners. I refuse to give money to a bum. I used to ask them to do chores for the cash. I've offered probably close to a hundred bums the opportunity to mow grass, help out with some farm work, etc. and I'd pay them $10 an hour cash. I've never had a single one take me up on it. If your not willing to work for something, your not worth my damn time or money.
