What the heck happened over the past four months? Guns and ammo are so expensive now and nowhere to be found.

Hello again, everyone. I didn't know what to expect from training, but I got my laptop back for tech school. All I want to know is, what the heck happened while I was gone. Guns and ammo are so expensive now and nowhere to be found.

Rip Van Winkle?

Little things like a presidential election, Sandy Hook, and a new Congress with a passel of proposed anti-gun legislation come to mind.

So I guess I should offer up an explanation as to why I don't delete accounts. It's probably been posted somewhere else here in the past but, what the heck...

Basically it leaves "holes" in our forum when I do that. Posts suddenly become attributed to Guest or Guest_yourusername which kind of screws up the search-ability of posts and so forth. It's a decision somewhat made on the basis of aesthetics, functionality and practicality.

What you really need to know is that we don't keep any personal information about you other than what you provided when you signed up. Your email address is pretty much it. Beyond that we keep a small history of the IP addresses you visited from, and whatever you posted on the forum publicly. If you clear out your private messages, eventually those too go away as we age out our database backups.

So I'm not sure exactly what deleting a user account would do for a person's privacy, especially when you consider that any post you've made publicly has long since been indexed by Bing, Google, Yahoo and whatever alphabet-soup agencies care to index things like that. If you're worried about being off the grid, per se, that horse ran off the farm the first time you started using the Internet. :)

Anyway, so there it is. Hope it makes sense, but I also hope it doesn't make you panic.

Excellent reasons.  Everyone here I've seen has a lot to offer.  I'd hate to lose the information each person leaves. This is by far my favorite forum and I'm a member of 12 or so.  Even if I didn't live in TN or shoot, I'd still want to have the info at my fingertips.  You just never know.

Basic training used to be in TX for the Air Force. Did they move it off planet?

Just being facetious. Carry on.
