Best DMV to file for carry permit?

I live in Murfreesboro and drove by the DMV to file for my permit and there was more than a days worth of line there.. Just curious if anyone knows of a station in a surrounding town that would have less of a line?

The Columbia office has always been fairly good about moving people through relatively quickly...but that's a little hike from Murfreesboro. Hope you're able to get it worked out. Nothing worse than having to wait...

rollfloor.gif I went there for my renewal and the line was out the door; I just mailed it in. You would think they would add another office or expand the one they have.

I use to drive by there on my way to work a few years back when they were handing out licenses to illegals and the line would be around the building at 6AM.

But curious to find out where you end up going if I ever do need to go.

I was in and out quickly on a Tuesday at the Gallatin location - 855 North Bluejay Way Gallatin, TN 37066.

+1 there

I always go to Columbia for all of my DMV needs. Its a little farther for me than the Franklin office, but when I submitted my HCP app i was in and out in 14 minutes. The majority of that time was waiting in line to get my picture taken behind a bunch of giggly young girls getting their drivers licenses or learners permits.

When I walked in, the lady at the information desk must have seen me holding my class certificate and just handed me the correct application without even asking why I was there. They called my number before I was even half way done with the app itself so I call that speedy.

A little far for you but Paris is always only one or two people, never saw a line and I was in and out. I'll

drive there from Clarksville any day.

When I taught HCP classes in Rutherford Co, most of our students went to M'Boro or LaVergne.

From feedback we received, there were more "issues/problems" with ignorant DMV employees, regarding HCPs, at the LaVergne location.

The only issues that ever cropped up about M'Boro were the occasional wait times.

Because of this, we started recommending the M'Boro location.

In Shelby county I have always used the Millington office in the past. This time I mailed my renewal in and got it back today. I was very surprised. It only took about three weeks.

I went to the DMV in Franklin three weeks ago to renew and I was in and out in under 30 minutes. I've already received my new permit too. I was shocked that it got here that fast.

I went to the Walnut Grove office (3040, just east of Tillman) for my renewal on the last week of September. I got my new perimit and duplicate (spare) in the mail today. I was in the Walnut Grove location for 45 minutes start to finish. There were 4 people ahead of me. Overall, it beat driving to Millington. 45 minutes was less than my round trip drive time to Millington.

I've never been there. My wife and kids always brag about how fast they are.

Thanks for all the replies! I saw several votes for Lebanon and Shelbyville and those 2 are pretty close by so if the M'boro line is terrible Monday morning i'll strike out to one of those.

I pulled out of the office this morning heading to Shelbyville but since the M'boro DMV is 1/2 mile from the office i thought i'd pull through and check the wait there before making the drive. I got there a couple minutes after they opened and there was already a line but no out the door and around the builing like on Friday. The lady told me about an hour wait time so i decided to save the gas and get in line. but its over and done with and finger prints are scheduled for Wednesday Then let the waiting begin!

I went to the DMV in Murfreesboro on Monday, 24 Sep. I got there about 1:15, filled out the permit application, paid my $115 and got my photo taken. I was in and out of there in less than 40-minutes.
