I bought a Mosin Nagant carbine with the following stamps and markings. On the receiver is "1891/59", the marking for Tula and "1932". All serial numbers match. It is a hex receiver and has a bright bore, looks great.

Can anyone give me more information about this particular model? Any interesting facts I should know? Last one, what is a fair price for this model in today's market? Semper Fi,

Joe

Yes, with the Tula marking and a hex barrel.

It seems the hex receivers are commanding a +$30-$40 difference as apprised to round. The Tula is more desirable to certain collectors but some don't care either way. Being pre war I believe is a selling point as well.

All told your probably looking in the $150 range or somewhere there abouts. A lot will depend on the buyer, how motivated are they to pick up your sure thing as appossed to waiting around and finding one in the $120 or so range.

If you can point me in the direction to find more like mine for $150 I'll buy them all. I don't trust what people are asking on gunbroker.com as reliable, realistic, prices, but look at what their asking for these on there. Even the M38's are demanding $200+, with a lot being listed closer to the $300 range.

It's entirely possible and infact probable I'm a bit off on my guess. I'm coming from the thought that I can pickup a hex receiver of random manufacture for about $130. I'd pay another $20 just to be sure of Tula manufacturing and personally the draw of a prewar example just doesn't so it for me, so maybe another $20 for that.

Possibly a devoted collector would offer more but I'm not sure I would bank on waiting if I was in the sellers place.

You have a 91/59. They were cut down from the 91/30 and made into a carbine without a bayonet. They have bringing $250-300 with no problem when put up for sale on the right forums.

If I could piggyback off USMC's question...

Is a Tula 1940 a "run of the mill" Mosin? All the numbers match, but it looks like its been through a war.
Is there anything special to look for in the 1940 91-30 from Tula? Edited by bentonbjones
