These are the guys with the gold badges.

The IRS Criminal Investigation Division (CI) needs to ensure that its special agents are taking and passing required firearms training, according to a new report from the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA).

What am I missing here?

It sounds like an audit turned up some weak practices in their training and procedures and they are suggesting changes to correct them.

If this is about "Why does the IRS have guns? They're going to use them with the 25 bazillion bullets DHS just bought!!! OMGWTFBBQ!!!!1!!", if I was having to go knock on someone's door while running a criminal investigation, I'd be armed and trained too.

I thinks it was more or less saying CI was/is running around without a lot of training.

Any criminal investigators that do more than work out of an office should carry, hell in eastern KY I think census workers should carry after that stuff they pulled a couple of years ago in Red Bird.
