I have heard great things about their octoberfest and their summer ruby redbird. Seems like every time I walk through the beer isle I see it, yet whenever I am actually out to buy beer they are sold out. Both are still on my radar to try.

My man cave doesn't have the same requirements that public establishments do regarding carry and having a beer. They aren't mutually exclusive activities and both are heartily encouraged.

I spent most of March and April in Belgium and France. The Jupiler and Stella that are on tap in most bars are OK. I sure missed my PBR. The PXs and Commisaries do not carry it either.

I have found that if you have a kegorator, which I do, Shiner Bock is a FANTASTIC deal. Ingle's in Powell keeps a keg of it on hand for me, and at $95/keg, is a tough bargain to beat. Even in the heat of the summer, with a lime wedge, it is VERY refreshing. I went through at least 10 kegs of it this summer by the pool.

My go-to beer for around the house is Yuengling Black and Tan. I really like that stuff. I like a nice dark, strong flavored beer. I can't much stand cheap beer anymore. The good thing about a strong flavored beer, is that most people who drink the cheap stuff don't like it, so guests don't drink it all up.

When I go out and plan on having a beer with my meal, I usually try something new. The problem is, I can never find it in the store, or I forget what it was, or whether I liked it or not. I guess I have a bad memory. Maybe I should make notes in my phone.

I'm a bit of a beer snob in reverse. I used I be all about micro and craft brews and still can enjoy them. In the last few years I have really developed a taste for the cheap regional domestics like Stag, Iron City and Lone Star. I really wish I knew someone who had a way to get me some Hamm's.

Publix. THe one over in Bellevue carries it and when the new one here in town was built I went to the manager and politely demanded he carry it. He was more than happy to.

I love craft beers and I guess that's why "Home Brewing" is one of my favorite hobbies! Commercial wise, I guess Shiner and Sam Adams takes a front seat.

Home brewing is what turned me into a beer snob! I can make great beer cheaper than I can buy miller lite.

As for Chimay I prefer the white. The others are too sweet for me.

I am a beer snob as well. I remember the days when MGD and Miller High Life were my standard beer of choice and Rolling Rock was high-dollar for me. I tried a Rolling Rock a few months ago and it was one of the most vile tasting beverages I have ever consumed. Now I drink microbrews and craft beers almost exclusively, which sucks in a way because most restaurants have the typical mass-produced low-quality beer. Fortunately, one of my favorites is Fat Tire and it's become fairly common in east Tennessee. I just hope the growth in their popularity doesn't negatively impact their quality as I am certain it did with Samuel Adams. I used to LOVE Sam Adams, but as they became more popular, the flavor changed and now I can't stand the stuff.

I think it already has. I use to get my buddy to bring a case of Fat Tire back from Colorado when he'd come visit 10yrs ago. It just isn't the same now, still good, just not as good.

Maybe it's a mental thing, but I feel doubling your production has to impact the process some.

I often do a Lambic with Sunday Brunch.

Yuengling is always stocked; Celebrator Dopple Bock is high on the list of winter favorites, Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout, Chimay Grand Reserve, Gulden Draak, mannequin pis, oh the list goes on, we haven’t even hit the ESB's, IPA 's, brings Anchor Steam and Pitchfork to mind, all the hop head stuff.Not to mention we have not touched any sour stuff like Rodenbach….

OK I need to go grab a cellar temp one…

There is a brewery in Cooperstown, New York that makes some fantastic Belgian style ales. It's called Ommegang and I've never seen it sold anywhere. I bought a couple of cases when I visited the brewery several years ago. Good stuff.

My name is quietguy, and I am a beer snob.

I like to try craft beers, but really only like about 20% of what I try. I don't get the fruity beer trend, or the IPA trend. I am all for those that like them, but they just aren't for me.

IMHO, beer just doesn't get any better that a Guinness in some hole in the wall in Ireland. I love to try the local flare, but I always go back to GES.

I was just introduced to craft beer a year or so ago and it opened up a whole new world to me that I didn't know existed. Until then, I would have a beer now and then but I was never overwhelmed by any of the usual grocery store fare. Then a friend and I went to Asheville, NC after a hike in the North Carolina mountains and we had dinner at "Jack of the Wood" Irish Pub. He suggested I try a local brew called "Green Man ESB" and I thought that was the best tasting liquid ever to pass my palate.....and my journey into craft beer had begun. Since then I have tried as many of the craft beers as I could and have found some outstanding beers with flavor that I did not know could be infused into the drink we love so well. A short list of my favorites:

Sierra Nevada - Torpedo

Legend - Brown Ale

New Belgium - Tripplel

Young's - Double Chocolate Stout

Bell's - 2 heart IPA

So yeah, I guess I'm a snob....and I love it!

Not trying to steer the topic away from beer, but my beer snobbery also turned me into a whiskey snob.

I have considered the home brewing thing, but I don't know of any place local to Knoxville to get the supplies and I've heard it's really easy to screw up the batch and ruin the product.
