I had a home inspection fron TN DCS because we are being considered to be foster parents. We were asked (not told) to put our firearms on the bed with the action open in the master bedroom and be ready to show where we store the guns and and ammunition. The state worker knew that we held permits and she did not ask if we had a concelaed handgun on our person. She was extremely professional and she she saw our safe and was fine with our ability to responsibly store our firearms in an environment where there might be "at risk" children in the home.
