new? There are a couple of offbrands in the $350 range. Cimarron for example, but I have never even seen one up close. Heritage arms has one. Taurus has a couple. Of those I have shot a couple of taurus and own 3 of their small caliber revolvers. One of those was messed up out of the box, service was slow but excellent.

Most anything that isn't a Colt, Ruger or Smith is an Uberti or Pietta with a different name on it. There are a few other names as well, Freedom Arms comes to mind, but you are getting rather expensive at that point.

I have heard good things about the Italian guns. I think you can pick up a Uberti for $350 with a little searching.

I’m not an expert on the M1917, but aren’t they .45ACP?

I kinda assumed he was looking for a .45 Colt for a Cowboy shooting… maybe not.

Yeah, I didn't read all the way. I saw .45 revolver and got all starry eyed about moon clips.

My mistake.

I think you are mostly right. Heritage's 'Rough Riders' are made in the U.S. at their plant. Their 'big bores', however, are assembled at their plant from parts that are at least mostly if not entirely made by Pietta.
