Coal Creek Armory to make their own AR's and 1911s

I decided to ride with my brother over to CCA yesterday as he was having them transfer some lowers. While milling about just looking at their stock one of the new owners mentioned that they will be doing their own ARs and 1911s - that they have the CNC to do them from the ground up now. Proof of point they had a blank forging with their logo engraved on the side in a case with some of their current limited AR parts.

He stated that they would be starting off doing 1911s first, but sometime next year they hope to start doing ARs. He also said they would be expanding their parts to have much more. I asked about pricing, but he said he had no idea how much they would be charging yet - too early on.

I can't say much for some of the employees as a few seemed very confused on how to transfer the lowers let alone what a form 1 was that he requested. Some seem very knowledgeable, others not so much. If they get their pricing in line a little bit better, it might be worth shopping there. They weren't super packed last night, but I had 2-3 employees ask me if I needed help with anything or liked to see anything - which is a change from previous times I have been.

If their pricing is good, I plan on taking them up on engraving some lowers. The owner said they will do engraving for SBR's and custom engraving as well (although no pricing yet). I have always wanted to make my own logo/design and have it milled into a lower like I have seen some people do for their SBR's done through a trust.

i really hope that these new owners do well...not just for themselves, but for the customers too!

like so many have mentioned before...previous ventures into that place have left me walking out confused and or mad! ha ha ha.

they just were NOT friendly. i have only been in there about 5 times in the last 2 years and I can say for a FACT that NO ONE ever asked me if I needed help with anything!

Lets hope that it all goes well from here on out. I also am very interested in getting a lower engraved with a personal logo.

I can't speak for the main location, but I've been in their outpost location in Kingston a few times and they have been a major help to me. The blonde guy(not sure of the name) that works there is very knowledgeable and has helped me quite a bit.

Interesting. When did they go under new ownership and how many lowers did you guys get?

My brother had 2 transferred, I was just along for the ride.

New ownership was I believe about a year or so ago. The new owners were previous management from my understanding, and just bought out the original owner. I am guessing many of the things they were saying that needed to be done, were never being done. Now they have the power to make the changes they see fit. I wish the best for them as they are the closest gun store to me, and it would be great to be able to use them for all my needs. As of right now though, I am just going to watch and see.

Very cool, has anybody been to the range after the new lighting yet?

I didn't know they had new lighting otherwise I would have poked my head in.
