Going to Colorado this weekend

Recommended Posts

Well, the wife and I are going to Colorado this weekend, this will be my first time to be out west(past Texas), I am heart broken I will not be going hunting, we are going for a wedding. I Will have a day to kill before the wedding and I would love to be able to see some elk or wildlife, if I can't shoot it, might as well try to see an elk in real life. Does anyone have any recommendations where to go, or something fun the wife and I could do while we are there? we will be there friday-monday morning. maybe an outfitter to check out for a future elk hunt?

You will see lots of Elk in Estes Park CO. Its about 1 to 1.5 hours north west of Denver. Beautiful place. RMNP is about a mile from Estes as well.

This ^^

Sorry I thought you would get more responses, I read the thread and forgot to reply.

This time of year timing is important. If its warm early morning and late evening will be best times.

Well, I just got back from colorado, we had a wonderful time. I was never able to see any elk, but I did see 2 huge mule deer, 5x5 or better. I also got to watch a spike chase around some does on the side of a mountain. It was pretty neat! I will say this, it is much harder to breath out there at 6,000ft! even worse at pikes peak, 14,100 ft is real hard to breath! lol
