Sure, it's your house.

You can walk around your property with any firearm your allowed to own openly displayed. I walk my yard, fields, and woods with a loaded Marlin 336 in .35 rem and a Winchester Model 12 12 gauge all the time. You just can't discharge them in city limits so just keep that in mind if you live in town. As for the cops pulling me over, is it any of their business where I'm going? No. But I was raised to be polite and courteous, so unless the questions go beyond the normal mundane stuff, I'm gonna just reply in my normal tone, have a decent conversation with the man and go on about my business. I've been pulled over twice with unloaded long guns in plain view. The officer just ask if they were loaded, I said no, and he said alright, just leave them on the rack if you don't mind. Only gun interaction I've ever had with an LE and it was positive.

No HCP? Get one, leave 'em loaded.

Yeah. I do pretty often around the farm and small community near by. Long guns must be unloaded unless you have an HCP and you can't have a round in the chamber unless in fear of your life.

No. According to state law you cant have a round in the chamber of a long gun unless in immediate fear of your life. I think it has alot to do with stopping road hunters. That way they are a lot more wary of driving around spot lighting with a loaded rifle

Yeah, don't be a dick. Act like one and expect to be treated like one.

What's he big deal anyway? These guys face danger everyday and the job itself is a stressful one. He has no idea who you are until he runs a background. You just might be the only sane person he's seen today. Good grief, chill out. :chill:
