I agree with the "credibility" of the post counts. It seems silly but on the net where all everyone is is just a screen name, it's good to have some reference as to the credibility of the person posting.

TDR says

Dude I do not know you nor have I ever seen you, but man to man I need to advise you that guys do not admit to doing that. Some of you may do it but please never speak publicly about it ever again.

:P

You sir, owe me the proverbial new keyboard. :)

Quantity of posts does not represent credibability while quality might.

Hundreds/thousands of posts merely means one has the time to respond regardless of the content.

Knew that was coming. Yes, that is what is called a post whore or troll. That is where judgment comes into place. Lots of posts, been at the site for awile, then you have to look at their comments and repsonses to those comments. If they are a post whore or troll, it is very evident in just a few posts that that is what they are.

True, but it gives other active members who read their post that they either post just to read their own words or that they may have some sense.

There is evidence of this with some newbies that are members here. They have easily picked out a troll even though this person has several hundred posts.

I think the 50 post rule is stupid for f2f transactions

So that's why you've been posting short posts that have little or no contribution to the thread to which you are replying?

He couldn't be gone fast enough.

Guess so. I figure he just wants to sell a gun and needs to up his post count.

I fear that the 100 post rule will get us less quality posts. Some just commenting to run their post count up. I do understand the logic with the requirement but wonder about the unintended consequences.

Why not hide the post count. Let the current levels continue to allow members the perks. Let guys see post counts of others inside of members page.
