New 100 post rule

I fear that the 100 post rule will get us less quality posts. Some just commenting to run their post count up. I do understand the logic with the requirement but wonder about the unintended consequences.

:bowrofl: It's been lowered to 50 posts. Might as well just live with it. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

As has been noted, it's been lowered to 50 posts. The bad news is that people were already posting junk, fluff posts just to run up their post count anyway. So... things were already as bad as you predicted. :P

I think you should go to the default of becoming a benefactor. At least that way the fluff would pay.

I don't really care for post counts, doesn't matter to me and I do like some of the old post coming back alive, it can get interesting.

The real deal is this is not a sale/trade/buy forum, that is just a bonus for everyone.

Kick back and make some interesting posts and let the post count fall where it may.

And if you allow them to carry guns, blood will run the streets... LOL

Seriously though, if that becomes the case, then I am sure the mods/admins will just lock the trading post to Sr members only....or delete it all together...

Hopefully people will just grow up and be active members, or post their crap for sale on Gunbroker/EBay...I havent bought or sold anything yet, but I do like to look and drool....

First of all, I'm not b!t@h!ng , nor am I insinuating the Admin(s) made the wrong choice, just not sure I really understand.

Is it really that big of a problem? Does it really matter if someone only comes here to posts guns for sale? Since most of us at least look at the Trading Post on a daily (some hourly, I'm sure), how could more options be such a bad thing? I'm sure most of us would buy from a member with 3 posts, just the same as a member with 43987459854957954754979547 posts.

Is this issue really that much worse than those who post 8974396798769487907 meaningless posts, in 4387349769756987654998 meaningless threads? I see no difference.

Now, some of the crazy asking prices--that's for a whole new thread.

With that being said, I love this place. My girlfriend, not so much.;)

I do have a question/suggestion for the Admin. Why not delete the closed/very old threads in certian sections? I know I make it a habbit of closing my FS/WTB threads after it's over. I see no reason to keep them around.

Do you mean you don't love your girlfriend so much or she doesn't love the board so much? :)

I agree it would be good if the OP on a FS/WTB thread closed it after they sold/bought the item.

As far as the amount of post...I think Tungsten has already addressed that pretty well.

How do you go about closing a thread that you have started?

My guts hurt I may have to take a boom boom. ...................1 more post.:)

You click on "Edit", then click on "Advanced", then scroll down and click on "Close Thread"

To be honest...not sure all can do that. It may only be "Authorized Vendors" and "Benefactors" but you can always PM a mod do it for you.

I have that option for my thread in the trading post, but not in any other of the forum rooms.

At times, she thinks I love this board more than her. I guess that's why tonight is "our" night. Pizza, movies and cuddlin' for her tonight. I'm a nice guy like that.

Either way, this place rocks.
