No one can tell you what will work for you but others can give some idea of quality and reliability. Find a gun shop that rents guns and handle as many as turn you on then fire some rounds down range and see what works for you and good luck in your search.

Exactly ! You are the only one that will know what is comfortable for you.

What old gun model is it that has a can opener on it that was given to troops or something like that?

Ummmmm.......

have you watched "Sale of the Century" lately?

Chevy Chase, Gregory Hines, Sigourney Weaver (pant, pant!)

Sorry if this is crass and unfunny.

I would say the Ruger P95 for a full size. Its a little bulky but it a "Work Horse". I sold one and have regreted it ever since.

And for a small 9mm I like (and have) a taurus pt111 and love it. Its got alot of kick for a 9mm but its fun and reliable. The only ammo I have found that it dont like is +P

A few people have mentioned going and renting or at least looking at some different models. Are there suggestions for places to do this in Nashville?

thanks again

I've owned a Taurus PT99 for years that has been nothing but reliable and accurate. Something else to look at.

My info is not complete, but Guns and Leather in Greenbriar has rentals.

On Target in Murfreesboro and, IIRC, Joelton's Academy of Self Protection does, too.

This is based on my personal observation of these establishments.

I'm old, memory and imagination get intertwined!! :tough:

Check the Database for Gun Shops and Shooting Ranges, possible more information is available there.

Almost every major manufacturer makes a really good 9mm now. As many have said, you need to try some on, and decide whether you prefer a Ford or Chevy etc. Its probably a lot easier to tell you which brands are of lesser quality and better to stay away from. Of course someone will have one of them, and it will be the best thing since sliced bread! To make it short, get what fits, try it, buy it, then trade it for something else1:D

Best bet is to go to a good shop and handle them all. After that there are plenty of good choices in the 400-500-range.
