hello everybody! would like some advise on my sig 556, bought one of the first ones, about i year ago and really love it,it came without any b.u.i.s paid $1200 for it. 8 months later they came with sights but sig would not sell any! then a few months ago they came out with the folder which i saw and played with one last week, it was $1495 and i almost bought it. but in my opinion i wish it would fold to the left to me it just didnt feel right and some what cumbersome. then i realized it is the exact gun as i got except for the sights and folder and i just didnt want the same gun, same color etc.. if it would have been the commando type, i would most likely have bought it! i know that simpson makes a front sight for $125. i called sig again the other day and asked if they would sell the fold. stock mech. they said no, but now do sell the ft. flip up sight for $115. and a rear sight for around $95. it is not a flip-up. i really wanted the rear sight that comes on them now but they dont sell it, i know i would have to buy a part of the top rail if they did. i just want some good b.u.i.s for the rifle at a decent price, which would be better for the ft. the simpson or sig sight? for the rear i am wondering about the $29.95 ones i have seen lately. would they be on the same plane with the ft.? or should i buy the one from sig at $95? i also ordered from ace their new push-button side-fold mech. with a slimline block and the pig-nose adapter which will allow me to mount it to fold either to the left or to the right. depending on how i mount the mech. that ran about $150 with shipping. cant wait to get it, it is all steel so i should not have any problems. the main reason for this post is in reference to something i saw on gunbroker last night which totally blew my mind! a dealer is selling one of the early sigs like mine for $1900. as a rare collecter item, since this model without the sights is no longer being made and according to him any of those with a serial no. under 12,000 is a collectors item! i have read in the past that this early sig 556 model was discontinued, it even was being referred to by a strange name which i dont remember. all mine says on it is sig556 and my serial no. is only 3.400. the dealer is selling serial no.11.000 something. so is this dude nuts? or do i have a rare sig collectors item??? thank you, all responses are deeply appreciated!
