Picked up a Sig 556 Commando

I purchased a new Sig 556 Commando last week, and I am plenty impressed with it. The trigger pull is excellent for a weapon of this type, very crisp & light, not like the creepy, heavy pull I am used to on my stock ARs.

I am headed to the range with it tomorrow, and am anxious to try it out. So far, the only differences I noticed between the Commando and the regular 556 folder are the Magpul butstock, the 551 hand guard, and all the furniture is green. The Commando model does seem to balance better, but that is probably due to the lighter front 551 hand guard.

The only ammo I have on hand right now is Winchester 55gr. FMJ, and some Remington 45 gr HP. I know that the 1/7 twist barrel will produce better groups with the heavier loadings, such as the Federal 69 gr. match, but tomorrow will be a function test more than anything. I will touch base back here tomorrow evening to let you guys know how it runs.

The side folder really does make it more compact, and can be fired while the stock is folded, but I wish it folded to the non - ejection port side, and it would be nice if it locked in the folded position.

The Magpul stock itself is very nice, but the Sig folding mechanism is made of plastic. That may be fine, but I am considering replacing the factory hinge with a metal one, and reversing the folding direction.

I will post a pic of it beside my Smith & Wesson M&P15 T, and my Colt HBAR.

I have taken pics of the 556 Commando with my S&W M&P 15T and my FNH FS2000. With the stock collapsed, the Sig is the shortest of the three.

The only problem is that I do not see the picture upload link mentioned in the FAQ section in my user control panel. Without this link, I can't create or upload pics into a gallery. I will gladly e-mail the pics to one of you guys if you would like to post them.

I have one of the Sig 556 SWAT models...shoots very nice unless you try Wolf ammo. Ken and I tried some Wolf in it today...no go. Wouldn't even feed using my PMags

That and my inability to boresight properly are my only complaints with it

Lets see if I can get this to work.

OK, I followed the instructions in the FAQ section about posting pics, and used the URL address with no spaces, and it did not work. Does anyone know what I did wrong?

No problem. I think what you did was copy the http address to the page on photobucket, then tried to put it into code. All you need to do is copy the code that Photobucket provides you (usually found beneath the picture in your album) and just paste it onto your post here. Easy peasy.
