what could I reasonably sell once fired 9mm brass for?

Recommended Posts

I have quite a bit of 9mm brass setting in a tub in my basement. Somewhere around 2000 count I think. I've looked online and have seen quite a bit of difference in the prices. Just curious about what people would pay. I am interested in reloading but I just don't think reloading 9mm target loads would be worth my time.

If you want to make 9mm really worth your time the cast for it as well. I cast and load 9mm for under .04 a round. Even if you don't cast you should be able to load them for under .13 each if you can shoot cast, .15 for jacketed. Casting isn't that hard and it isn't very time consuming. You should be able to cast 250+ an hour.

depends on how much you shoot it vs how much reloading time you have etc. The cheapest 9mm is still $10 a box, once in a while a fire sale for 9 can be found. You can sometimes save in bulk online but shipping + price puts it right back to the same.

Reloading, even without casting, I can pretty easily manage under $5 a box, probably closer to 4 per box, using fairly inexpensive components. So at the very least, you can manage 50% savings. Its not as cheap as casting, but still a decent chunk of change for an active shooter, I could buy 1 average gun a year off what I can save on 9mm.

Could you break that down for me? Every time I try to price it out I only see about a 2 cent per round savings. 20$ per 1000 rounds in savings just isn't worth my time. Now if I could cut my costs in half that would be a different story.

This came from a retired lawman. Not really trying to make a living with the sales. He picks it up at the police range.

Jim told me they sold tumbled brass at the gun range for 3.00 per 100.
